Ground Control is seriously an awesome game mode.
You start with two 16 man teams. There are 3 flags or points to hold. May be a gas station, store, etc. Once you control them, ala BF, you have to keep controlling them. A meter will go up as you control them. Control 2/3 of the sections long enough and you move forward to the next 3 "flags". Now if the other team gets control of this area (they do get a jump start on anyone who spawns since they spawn way back at them), then you move back to the original 3 flags.
My only complaint is that's where it ends, first 3 two controls. So instead of going back and forth (which I get could take awhile), it ends once one team has 2 full controls. So if Team B gets control of the middle, they don't move forward, game is over and they win 2-1.
Other than that, the online play is brilliant. The battle points system is what makes it so. You get points for just about everything you do, you can use those points to use your 2 purchase slots (which you set in your load out) or you can bank them to spawn with a Hummer, Tank, Helicopter, etc. It's nice as if you buy the tank, you immediately spawn in it and are driving it. Now if someone else spawns a vehicle, you can spawn in their vehicle, otherwise you spawn somewhere on the map. You can't choose where like in BF (unless I'm totally missing something).
I'm very happy with this purchase, I like shooters to feel like a war, and not some chaotic spam fest in COD where everyone has ridiculous perks.
Oh yeah, this does have perks as well like faster reloading, longer knife radius, etc. You get points to distribute, so if you want that longer knifing, it's all you're going to have. Meanwhile, I have faster drone movement, faster reload, and better shooting from the hip. It's all give and take and very balanced.
Single player is excellent, does feel kind of slow and a little repetitive, but that's any FPS single player to me. The story on the other hand, it sucks you right in. So playing to keep the story going is great.
I'm on the 3rd out of 6 (I believe) missions on single player and put a few hours into multiplayer so far, and I'd give this a solid 8.5/10.
The weakest points are the graphics, it's not a looker but there's so much going on and it's not ugly either. Just don't expect it to look as good as Black Ops did.
Any other questions, just ask.
EDIT - oh yeah, the online access card. Level 5 took me about 40 minutes to achieve (you max at 75, highest rank I've seen is 22). So yeah, you will get a taste of playing online and that's it. And everything starts to unlock at level 6. So it's essentially a demo of online if you rent or buy used.
I've also come across a lot of guys having this off torrent, because just about every game I get a message that says "anyone have a online access code I can buy cheaper than $10?". Come on guys, you steal the game, at least give the dev's $10 to keep playing it online.
Having personal experience with the devs on this game (and it's not influencing how I feel on the game one bit), they deserve to get paid. They put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game.
