I don't see where anyone is being nit picky.

If Oblivion is one of the best looking games you own, you can't own many 360 games. If they release a new game I'll buy it, but on the flipside I don't think asking for a new game engine several years later is too much to ask.

Im with you, If this game looked the exact same as Oblivion, I would still be there on Monday night waiting in line to buy it. The Engine has aged and it definitely has issues like Frame-rate, Combat, and the world stopping in conversation.

Now some developers have done miracles with aging engines but when you look closer you still the legacy issues.

I have many 360 games, many many many. I have like 3 stacks of them. Oblivion still blows me away the most. The environments look fantastic. People are being nit picky. They're also ignoring the rest of the article.

They said they improved greatly upon it, and said that the graphics make it look like a new generation. That may be a bit of an over exaggeration, but it still sounds like it's gonna look 10X better than the original game.

They also said it's almost a new engine. There's a whole other article besides the 1 sentence saying they're using gamebyro.

I'd be disappointed if they really are using the older game engine. With that being said, I'll be buying whatever they put out and I'm certain I'll enjoy it thoroughly.

I really hope they use a different engine though. That would be fantastic.

But if the engine is improved like they said... it might not matter

I might give it a look see. That review was really poorly written, so many spelling errors.

This has nothing to do with another video game. Why did you even post that?

I would really like to see them expand the variety of monsters....add a dragon or two.

                      re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Now that we know ESV will be a direct sequel to Oblivion, I just hope they learn from what they did and improve upon it.

Scrap the monster scaling, it was a novel idea, but you never felt more powerful like you are supposed to as you progressed in an RPG.

And hopefully a new engine is needed. I am sure they will wow us with something, but either a new engine or third party engine for the game is a must. The engine used for this and Fallout is rather lackluster now.

I'll check it out, but I'll have to look for a few more reviews. It's hard to get one's point across when the article is written like that.

The Gamebryo engine has significant faults. How can you disagree when it is possible to get stuck in the geometry, the framerate is unstable, the world around you stops when you enter conversation, etc. There are plenty of faults with the engine, and as I said earlier, I'll believe it's improved when I see it. Do any other games use that engine?

I don't care about the world stopping when you talk. I have never really seen a single problem with framerate, and really the only game where I've ever gotten stuck in the geometry is in older PS2 games and Fable 2 (which was a terrible game).

I actually liked Morrowind much more than Oblivion. the graphics/models/animations were terrible but the story in itself beats Oblivion easily. Oblivion felt watered down to me(compared to Morrowind).

I would hope that after 5 year their "engine" would be better. it would be pretty sad if it was not.

See im the exact Opposite. I mean I loved both but Morrowing IMO story blew, so did the whole managment system. I sunk so many more hours into Onlivion then Morrowind just for the basic reason that the interfaces were more user friendly....Now give me all the stuff that Morrowind had and mix in a great story and easy to manage inventory like in Oblivion and Im set.

And a more imaginative world. The forest scene was nice at first but after a while it got kinda dull.
