Is it certain people only talking about her, or turning every conversation into how great a character she is or is because it seems like everybody seems to like her so much?

Tali is definitely one of my favorite characters, but I'd hate for someone to think I'm obsessed with her just because of that fact.

@CarrTheWeight, why should Tali not be seen as a sex object? I mean, I know her character is simply a collection of ones and twos, but she's drawn in a way that would attract people. Is it different for Miranda, Ashley or Liara (cuz seriously, who would bang Jack?)?
When you start writing things like this:
There's been a truck load of good conversations, philosophizing, screen shots, poetry, humor, good natured camarderie and admiration/love for Tali's persona. It just came to me in a flash a moment before typing this post.

We often speak of Tali and our fan enthusiasm towards her as though it were a sect; the truth may not be too far off that description. Stated in short, concise terms: We've become a movement. Each day the self-declared "Talimancers" return, many of us familiar faces and some new. Our exuberance and devotion to this place does not appear to be dimming as the days go by - quite the contrary. And it is not because of this place.

No, it's because of what has been unleashed by the creation of Tali'Zorah vas Normandy as a character. I trust we are all painfully aware that she is not a living, breathing entity as we have come to understand such. She has become an ideal; her spirit as awakened something that has lain dormant deep inside many of us - each of us either secretly aware that we craved something or perhaps going through our daily routines unsure how to place our fingertips on it yet instinctively aware that something is missing. Each of us share this yearning to one degree or another and it is a shared commonality that forges these bonds between us that have been strengthened over the past few days. We are kindred spirits irrespective of our age, our experience, our country of birth or native tongue, we are alike because we have been awakened inside.

We've had one of those rare opportunities that some people can search for for a lifetime to glimpse at our inner workings, compare it to the world around us and reached the conclusion that regardless of our station in life it can be even better. That we as individuals and as a collective group can be better- that we are already becoming better thanks to the resonating ,complimentary effect we are creating amongst ourselves. It may sound melodramatic yet I believe with an earnest heart and a clear mind that the adoration and love the character of Tali'Zorah enjoys is a testament to the recognition by many here that there is a love that can burn so brightly within the recesses of our souls that no darkness, no matter how grave, can extinguish.

We, the so-called "Talimancers" - a term that may have started out as a half jest, have become a movement because we see clearly, perhaps for the first time in a while, that there are better and greater things in our brief existence than purely material and selfish pursuits. That the values represented in Tali'Zorah vas Normandy need not only apply to her but can apply to us and those around us. That we can find such a love-selfless, honesty, compassionate, modest, pure, brave and strong - and that it is something worth striving for. It is for these reasons that we have each come to love Tali'Zorah in our own individual way, and it is for those reasons that she, the character of Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, has become a rallying cry, a symbol.......And now I'm done.
I could rattle of a non-comprehensive list of traits that Tali'Zorah vas Normandy possesses (intelligence, sweet, shy, earnest, quirky, passionate, courageous, strong yet gentle, reasonable, a voice that makes grown men weak at the knees, a touch of mystery, etc.)
which are immensely appealing to many. Yet perhaps it is more succinctly summed up by stating that she represents a figure that many of us yearn so deeply, even desperately, for; like a drowning sailor at sea clings to flotsam to keep his head above the encroaching cold water, so too are people here desperate- yet-hopeful that perhaps maybe, just maybe, someday they may count themselves fortunate enough to encounter a real-live woman who encapsulates if not all of these traits, then at very least some of them.

In short: Tali has become a symbol of attainable perfection. It is a powerful thing for it speaks to a yearning inside many of us and we feel its call. The character of Tali'Zorah has reached out and captured our hearts and our imagination and we want more. Much more.
    This guy was completely serious.

I think Tali's a much more rational character, honestly. She definitely admires Shepard, but not in a "let's go there" way, or at least not until the late stages of the romantic angle. Even in the "scene" itself, it's more about her personal struggle with who she is instead of a strictly sexual connotation.

At the same time, though, I agree with what you had to say about her appearance. She isn't necessarily reeking of promiscuity or sex appeal (at least in my opinion) but the design itself is meant to accentuate her body. That, I can see. As for the other female squadmates, their clothing is a bit more revealing, their characters are a bit less innocent, as are their romance scenes...especially if we're talking about female squadmates from ME1.

I'm not placing you under the wide range of people I described in my original post at all, because I'm a Tali fan (more or less) as well...I just don't necessarily take it to the level others do. So I apologize if my generalization seemed a bit harsh. It's just that fanservice on the internet sorta creeps me out, as it should.

EDIT: I wrote a blog entry over a year ago for another website about the reasons why I thought Tali was a great supporting character, and I did so not in terms of physical or perceived traits, but through a study of her characterization and character dynamics. It was more analytical than anything, though. Mostly about how the designers were able to successfully make me empathize so effectively with these characters.

I thought I was a little too obsessive with Morrigan in Dragon Age, but apparently I'm miles away from how obsessive some can be.

LOL! Wow! Okay I get it. That is ridiculous.

@Sandman, Morrigan gave me a "weird" fascination with Claudia Black. I love her voice.
