You can get to 5k assets no problem. It's the fact that if you don't do MP then that 5k gets cut in half.

Not according to a highly-respected reviewer.

That being said, it appears that if you really try you can still get the best ending, which seems apropos considering the Reapers are supposed to be an insurmountable force.

Every side quest across 3 games + all planets in ME 3 and there's not enough.
I even went through an asset guide and added in the very few I don't have + the bit that's left story wise and it's still short,added in the fish that only count in NG+ and it's still short. Like I said,no one has done it yet,even people that have done things differently. Someone even went through that same asset guide adding up the numbers and it came out to around 3850 EMS.

My take on the ending and the over all game:

1. Being this was a galaxy wide war, I still felt like you really didn't have control over the whole war. I mean you have all these fleets but can't control them what so ever. Would have been better if you had the power to send fleets to different sectors throughout the game trying to win back some galaxies. You know, treat it like an ACTUAL WAR.

I mean what the hell were they doing the entire time ? Just chillin ? Shooting the breeze as my ship goes all over the place ? Lack of control just rubbed me the wrong way.

Wing Commander 4 did it best. When the whole galaxy was at war, you were able to send fleets to different sectors and tell your allies where to go, etc. Here.....you gain allies but can't DIRECT them at all.

What was the whole point of the war map if you can't tell people to go to those places ? I mean seriously, telling me I got X amount of people from these different races don't mean jack if I can't control them.

That was a HUGE let down. I would have sent the Krogon right up the middle, with the Asari backing them up. Then would have had Jack and the students flanking, with the Geth being my shock troops. But nooooooooooo, you didn't have a say at all.

Then in the end.......it was still restrictive. Couldn't assign your crew to different sectors or lead different groups of people. Really ? They were just some where chillin I guess off in the back ground. I rolled with Javik and the muscle bound James.

Mainly because those 2 were my strongest crew members who very rarely died on me during the entire game. Tali committed suicide when her fleet was destroyed and I choose to upgrade the Geth.

Which brings me to some thing else. When you go back to Earth and start fighting, why the hell is the only people you see fighting are humans on the ground ? Thought this was a massive ground invasion but all I seen was humans running and getting slaughtered.

And not only that, it was just me and my 2 squad mates 99% of the time on the ground, getting swarmed by people. That rubbed me the wrong way as well. Should have at least let us take our entire crew up the middle.

2. The ending......was blah at best. It didn't live up to the rest of the game IMO. During the whole game you seen epic battle scenes and epic fire fights. But the ending was some little transparent boy god ? Really ?

And the whole Reaper reasoning angle was just stupid. I was expecting some type of massive plot twist or something. Kind of like the Asari hiding Prothean artifacts in their temple and using that knowledge to be the most advanced race in their cycle type of angle.

I had all three, I seen all three however I chose the destroy all reapers option. After all that I wasn't goin to let them live. I do feel bad letting the Geth die as well with that decision though.

People put way too much stock in the Sovereign conversation. He had a war that he wanted to win and assumed that there was no way they would come close to being destroyed since they had been doing it for thousands of years. You didn't learn anything from that conversation except that the Reapers were extremely arrogant and had been destroying civilizations for awhile.

The game tells you what the other species were doing after you resolve whatever issues they have and you always get a faction of them to help with building the crucible. As far as the Earth fight, you only see humans when you're fighting but you get reports from other groups during the entire mission and the cut scenes show the other races fighting.

Related to the ending theories

As for the hallucination theory, I don't think that the whole thing was a hallucination but the kid was either a figment of Shepard's imagination or just a projection that whatever was up there chose to present itself as. It's also possible that he got plugged into something like with the geth mission and that was why he saw the kid. I think the people assuming that the kid was actually a part of the Reapers or part of the group who made them are taking that part too literal.

just finished up another main mission

boarded/destroyed Geth Dreadnaught and found Legion. afterwards, when talking to legion.

Shepard: What did you do after destroying the collectors?
Legion: returned to Geth with proof that Reapers were returning, Geth prepared for War against Reapers.
Shepard: so they believe your proof that the Reapers were coming back?
Legion: of course.
Shepard: that must have been nice.

Shepard's response was exactly the same as what I said after Legion said of course.

I can't speak on the engine, the PC version played extremely well. The only thing that was weird was my Shepard would sometimes lose his eyelids on cutaways and cutscenes. It looked really funny, and it would mess me up during serious conversation because I would be laughing at my face. I don't know if this was caused by me importing my Shepard from ME1 and 2 from the 360 Version.

The ending is definitely discussion worthy, but I'm personally not all up in arms about. You'll see for yourself. If you take the entire game as the ending in its entirety, then you can't be disappointed.

This was a great game and a classic series.
