Spoilerdestroy vaporization just screws everyone's day up.
I'm interested in what's going on with the official ME3 twitter account. The backlash if they made theSpoiler"real ending" a paid DLC would be incredibleComment

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerThe one thing that keeps pushing me towards that whole final scene being and indoctrination/hallucination is his suit. After you get blasted by Harbinger your armor is all gone/melted away in the entire scene in the Citadel. If you get the good ending with Shepard waking up, you see his N7 armor is on as he breathes from under the rubble. So he's really under the rubble from the Harbinger blast the whole time, everything after that never actually happened.
Only bad thing about that would be it means Bioware shipped an unfinished game if that's the case, because the reapers would still be there and the Crucible/Catalyst wouldn't have fired yet.
It does explain all the weird things that happen though, like that British sniper yelling that no one made it to the Citadel yet you and Anderson are on it. And the whole scene with your crew on the Normandy.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

What are your guys opinions on this big "ME3's Ending Sucks" debate going on? There's people even going to lengths demanding them to redo it...Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I'm 15 hours in, but can't wait to finish to see what's all the hoopla about the ending. I think it's perfectly fine to dislike the ending, even outright hate it, but demanding it to be redone is pretty crazy.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I thought it was fine actually...
Spoilerbarring some sort of hallucination/dream/indoctrination thing Shep lives (thanks to save edit),reapers destroyed along with a bunch of other synthetics but was pro human anyway...job done,go home.
Then I read this: http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect...ans-are-right/
and realized it doesn't make any sense.Comment

But after reading that gamefront article, it almost feels like they completely rushed the ending. Who would be behind that if that was the case? Is that a Bioware thing or EA? I'd much rather have the game hold true to what has been promised over all of this time and come out months late than something rushed out to hit a release deadline.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: Mass Effect 3
So I finished the game a little while ago, and I'm conflicted...
spoilers...
SpoilerI chose the "control" option. I was actually enjoying the ending until they showed the Normandy, after which it's basically a cut to black. What happened? I controlled the reapers, but where is the crew of the Normandy? What happened with the reapers on Earth? What did controlling them do? And why did the fact that I was nearly full paragon not really seem to matter?
I became more agitated when I watch the other "16" endings online and saw they were all basically the same. That's silly. Have 2 endings. Control or destroy, and have them be DIFFERENT. The worst thing about the ending, though, is the way it just...ends. If that's the climax of the story, where's my emotional resolution? Where's the celebration from the forces on Earth and the resolution of what has basically been 100 hours of story? The ending was way too short.
I will say this, too. If it is the case that they planned something crazy for DLC in order to keep people from trading in the game, and it does something to alter the ending on the disc, I'll probably never buy a bioware game ever again.
Just read this...ugh
SpoilerTurns out the Reapers are morons.
The Reason they're doing this whole cycle of extinctions thing is because they believe a technological singularity will inevitably cause AI's to be created, and that these AI's will see organics as too different to them to be related to, are thus a threat, and so will wipe out all organics on principal.
Apparently they think this way because they were built by an ancient race who suffered a Skynet like catastrophe.
These aliens were pricks.
Rather than think they might have made a mistake when building this AI, handled their introductions badly, or just decided not to build anymore AI's, these ancient aliens decided synthetic life itself was at fault, because it couldn't possibly be anything else, and created The Reapers to kill all organic species before they got to a stage of technological advancement where they might start building AI's.
To sum up: they created machines that would wipe out all organic life in the galaxy, in order to prevent machines wiping out all organic life in the galaxy.
Now, this wasn't the original motivation for the Reapers. Originally, they were meant to be preventing dark energy coming in from outside the galaxy from prematurely causing all stars to die. That's why we had so many references to dark energy in ME2. The Reapers acted as giant energy sinks, which is why they sit outside the galaxy for 50,000 years, to act as a shirld. However, as time goes on the amount of Dark Energy increases, so they need to harvest more species to create more Reapers, hence the cycle. The reason they use intelligent species is to use the victims brain as a hive minded organic computer, in the holes of comming up with a more permanent solution eventually.
The end of the game would have given Shepard the choice of either blowing the Reapers apart and hoping everyone can come up with a new way to stop Dark Energy, or bargaining the Reapers down to just taking Humans for a new Reaper, and leaving everyone else alone.
Then ME1&2 Lead Writer Drew Karpyshyn left to work on SWTOR, and Mac Walter took over.
And apparently Mac is an appalling writer.
Not least of all for failing to remember that a significant portion of the last two games was spent teaching us that AI's are not inherently evil, and ME 3 proves the Reapers are wrong by having 2 AI's willing to live peacefully with organics, EDI and the Geth.
Hell, EDI even shags Joker. Which might kill him, but not intentionally.
So basically the Reapers entire motivation is flat out wrong, and means they're just irrational machines incapable of reasoning or thinking outside their programming, built by a bunch of insane, arrogant cowards.Last edited by mrprice33; 03-14-2012, 08:20 PM.Comment
