Re: Mass Effect 3
I also will say that Sovereign and Saren were the best villains. I missed going over different planets, but, the fact that Bioware can't make a damn vehicle right, makes me ok with missing out on that. I definitely though ME2 had the weakest RPG elements, but I liked ME3's system as a hybrid of both of the others. Could have had more pick ups in areas though. I liked ME3's character interactions the most. ME2 probably had my favorite ending mission though.
I'd probably say ME3 was my favorite (even with the ending), then ME1 and ME2 in last. All of them are near the top of the greatest games I've ever played though.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
So yeah, the ending is as bad as people have been saying. It's very disappointing, but the ride was still fun, packed with fan service and some of the most memorable moments in the trilogy.
ME1 is still my personal favorite. It's weird though, because I wouldn't say it's a better game than 2 and 3. It certainly had the benefit of being the first, so it was the freshest and maybe there's some nostalgia in play, but I loved how it didn't feel processed through a million focus group testings and Exec meetings. ME1 mechanically and technically is messy, the inventory is FUBAR, there's a lot of redundant assets, but I loved its mystery, 70s sci-fi vibe, the story and overall narrative flow, grander sense of exploration, deeper dialogue trees, multiple situations on story planets that flowed naturally back into the main narrative, and one of the most badass and complex villain's (or hero?) in gaming in awhile. Saren and Sovereign were the high point, Illusive Man was good, but the Collectors and Harbinger pale in comparison.
Up until the end, the main story in 3 was better than 2 also, but 2 did have better side content. There were much better fully fleshed out side stories in 2. There were like 3 of them in ME3, but the rest were the multiplayer maps reused for a mission, or the bull**** Dragon Age 2 esque fetch quests which don't fit into the story at all.
Saren and Sovereign are the series high points in terms of villains though. The Illusive Man had some good parts in 3, but everything pales to the first time you talk to Sovereign in ME1. Still my favorite part of the series.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Spoiler up to the last mission on the Quarian homeworld.
SpoilerI was an idiot the first time I played the mission. I thought that there's no way BioWare would give me an either or situation...even though they have. I initially choose geth thinking I'd get a 3rd option in the dialogue tree. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. First I watched all the quarians get blown out of the sky...then Tali killed herself. There was NO WAY I was letting that save happen. I reloaded the mission and did it right.
Sorry Legion. Your people deserved better in the end but...you should've never been created in the first place.
Plus, I was stupid and never called Tali up to my cabin for a lil' heart to heart before hand.
And dammit, Udina! You bastard! Because of your betrayal, I lost Thane. He was going to die anyway, but it shouldn't have been that soon.
I'm beginning to tire of that fat faced, Grimace shaped butt reporter. And her not so subtle attempts to get me to cheat on Liara.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Just had my first multi-player experience. It wasn't half bad. I think I'd rather play with some friends but the randoms were okay. I still don't like the feeling of being forced to play MP in order to boost galactic readiness though. That's dumb. I'm a level 11 sentinel on MP. How and the heck do I get a different gun than an Avenger I assault rifle? I saw some lower ranked people with better guns. They just get lucky at the store?MLB: Cincinnati Reds

you can get peace between them, Although Legion still dies to "improve" the rest of the geth. not sure what the requirements are, but I was able to do it. maybe something to do with ME2 choices? I chose rewrite over destroy in Legion's loyalty mission. Geth even allows the Quarians to return to their homeworld and offers to help rebuild for them.

SpoilerI rewrote as well. Didn't get that option. I'll do many playthroughs though. Do missions in different orders and such. I'll save both of them eventually. But for now...didn't kill off Tali. Don't have the stomach to lose her. And BioWare is down bad for teasing us with her face like that. Again.Comment

However the best weapon in the game has to be the Geth Plasma Shotgun. It's literally absolutely rediculous.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Fully agree, Mass Effect 1 had lots of "jank" but it was by far the most complex of the games and definitely had the best story and villains. The one thing ME2/3 did better was give you great squad members. ME1 had Wrex, but the later versions of Garrus, Tali, and especially Liara are better characters than in ME1. Add Mordin, Thane, and Legion for the other great characters that 2 added. I can't think of a character in any other franchise that evolved as well as Tali did. From a teenager on her pilgrimage to the events of 2 and 3, I definitely feel like she had the best back story.
Up until the end, the main story in 3 was better than 2 also, but 2 did have better side content. There were much better fully fleshed out side stories in 2. Re: Mass Effect 3
I can not believe they took the lazy route on this epic journey. So many questions left unanswered. Does anyone remember how Lost ended? That is the exact feeling I got as soon as those credits started rolling. The writers write these complex stories with thousands of pieces to the puzzle, then forgets how to put it all back together.... Its a shame that one of the greatest Sci-Fi Tv series & trilogy had to end like this.Last edited by str8artist; 03-21-2012, 09:50 AM.My ArtworkComment

Re: Mass Effect 3
I just made a choice that I am totally ticked about. Didn't have any backup saves either and it auto saved.
SpoilerI let Legion upload the code to the Geth, and they destroyed the Quarian fleet. Then Tali was so upset that she took her mask off and fell backwards off a cliff. The paragon icon popped up as she spread her arms to fall and I hit the wrong trigger and was too late. She's dead now and the Quarian fleet with her. I have the Geth forces but Legion died also uploading the code. Tali was one of my favorite characters too.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Had a weird bug happen last night (at least I think it was). On my Cerberus Scientist Mission the audio was all jacked. It was like I was under water the entire time and I couldn't hear my squadmates. I added the N7 helmet right before that mission, so I'm not sure if it was supposed to sound like that because my Shephard was in the helmet or not.
I'm leaning towards it being a bug, because when I had to activate the turrets, I left one of my squad mates to fix it. After handling all of the baddies, nothing happendThe uptempo music was still playing like I was in the middle of battle, but there was nothing going on. Finally I just quit the game and will restart from my previous save the next time I get a chance to play.
