Alan Wake - My anticipation and excitement were very high for this game. I'd been keeping tabs on it for over a year. I got through it, but wow, was it a chore. I got tired of running endlessly through the woods by the second level.

I actually like the game. I expected it to suck because of so much hype but it was actually good to me.

Heh - I'm the opposite. 90% of gaming used to be sports with an odd Final Fantasy or whatever thrown in, and now I'm almost completely off sports games. I was always a huge franchise gamer and I find there isn't enough to keep me hooked in franchise sports gaming anymore.

I'm the same way...I'm going to pass on more sports games now because I don't play franchises/dynasties like I used to. I think it's just getting older, along with wanting more plot/story in my games.

Bioshock, most definitely. Underwater city overrun with weirdo enemies, harvesting zombified little girls, strange powerups, backstory told by picking up audio recordings......why is this game popular? Assassin's Creed 1 was so boring I refuse to pick up any of the follow ups no matter how improved they are. Last but not least has gotta be that Transformers war for cybertron! Seriously, besides the voice acting, this was just another by-the-numbers 3rd person shooter with ho-hum level design and a what felt like a tacked-on multiplayer mode. The single game that made me start to question IGN's reviews. (they scored it a 9!!!)

Disagree on Bioshock and Assassin's Creed. Both had pretty great stories, controls, gameplay, etc.

I'll agree on Bioshock 2, that game just didn't hook me at all for some reason.

God of War 3 - Nice looking game but too much of a been there done that feeling. The combat felt a bit old after playing Bayonetta.

Black Ops - Okay game but nowhere near as good as the hype machine would make you believe.

Killzone 2 - I bought the game when my PS3 was still working and I never finished it before I sold it back. Just couldn't get into it and the title update that made the game feel different put me off as well.

Wow I am honestly shocked at people putting any of the Uncharted games on this list. Both are absolutely amazing and offer pretty much every great feature of most games.

Shooting controls = great (any 3rd person shooter)
Climbing = great, (Better than assassins creed)
Cut scenes/acting = top notch in the industry (better than MGS4)
Length = Solid (on par with most top games out there)
Story = Solid (Movie quality)
Characters = Great character work and all are different ( better than most games)
Controls = Very intuitive controls (again better than most out there)
Graphics = Amazing ( top 5 in industry)

I don't understand lol but to each his own

All COD's (minus COD MW1, best still by a long shot)

It's like you opened my brain, scooped out the words and put them in a post. Both Uncharted games are absolutely world class imo and I agree that MSG4 and the COD's are overrated. I like the COD games and have personally bought nearly every one of them but they really don't deserve to be some of the highest selling games of all time imo.

COD MW2 & Black Ops - way too hyped Battlefield BC2 is better imo especially multiplayer

Bioshock - I don't get it either

AC 1, I skipped 2 and got Brotherhood for Xmas. It's definitely gotten better since the snooze fest that was AC 1.

Mass Effect - mining snoozefest imo, give me some action but too each his own

I will be honest BnG, my PS3 sees so little play. For several reasons that might not pertain to you though. I am more of a online player so 360 is the route to go for that. I like the 360 controller way better.

Outside of that I like my PS3, it just does not see enough game time. Between The Show, LBP2, and Uncharted series that is about all I play on it.

Yea man, COD MW was the title that put them truly on the map for the best selling franchise since the re-release of the COD series. But since MW1 none of them have been that great. I have owned all of them but they have all been way over hyped.

I haven't played the first Uncharted, but UC2 is slightly overrated IMO. It is a pretty great game, but everyone made it out to be like the greatest game ever made, so it didn't quite live up to the hype for me.

Still, it shouldn't even be close to being mentioned in this thread.

The climbing and traversal is not even close to being better than Assassin's Creed. You can go just about anywhere in Assassin's Creed, you are limited to wherever the developers wanted you to go in a particular climbing sequence in the Uncharted games.

Anyway, my list would be:

Uncharted 2- They said they got rid of the bullet sponge enemies but didn't and while it was fun I just never got all that into it. It's a really good game but not as good as I've seen people make it out to be

MGS4- just boring and not fun to play at all, also the story is dumb

any of the Halo games- really easy to get burned out on. I would play for a weekend and have all the Halo I need and never felt like I wanted to play any of them again.

Fallout 3- I loved Oblivion but the boring/ugly setting and Bethesda using the same engine as a 360 launch game killed it for me. I was really close to getting the collector's edition but I'm glad that I didn't cause after I rented it and played for a few days, I brought the game back and never had any desire to play it again.

Any of the Call of Duty games- I don't care about online and having endlessly spawning enemies and a dumb *** story made me not like any of them

God of War 3- Boring button mashing

Black Ops- single player was a waste of time. Online is just the same. Hit detection and connection issues make/made this game unplayable after about a month.

-Arkham Asylum
-AC2 & Brotherhood

Also NBA 2k11 (don't get me wrong, I like it, just highly overrated).

The first Assassin's Creed was tedious as hell IMO. I can't believe that game had so many people excited for AC2.

Metal Gear Solid was okay, but nothing mind blowing.

I am willing to fight anyone who said Uncharted.
