Re: Dead Island
I read the IGN review and basically seems like Riptide is just more of Dead Island, they didn't really fix much or change a ton.
I just got Dead Island, so I'll be on that a while, but I could see getting Riptide cheap down the line...Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Not getting the most glowing of reviews, but if you enjoyed the first I bet you'd like this.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Dead Island
another review said it's the player would like it better had they NOT played 1 because they are so similar. I'm waiting to hear from someone who played both extensively which one is better and I'll grab that one.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Dead Island
RipTides out, but I just started playing this game today. Absolutely love it. Usually not into Zombies, but I enjoy the breakable weapon approach coupled with the upgrades / repair management aspect, and the RPG elements are the icing on the cake. Gameplay is solid, and the story is just enough to keep you moving forward. Looking forward to finishing this one up fast!Comment

Re: Dead Island
It's a real pick your poison kind of situation
Riptide needs a patch, at least on the PS3 version, popins are common along with lagging situations. I haven't had any noticable glitches outside of that but I may be on the rare side of things. (The only glitch I had involved Item duplicating which is taking advantage of a postive glitch anyways so I can't hold the game responsible for not being able to encourage cheating!)
Riptide is a solid game and it fixes on issues like weapon durability and guns that were big issues from DI1, alternatively, the storyline for DI was more gripping and felt more like a survival game at the start, where as Riptide starts you out feeling like a badass. It's two entirely different feelings and while by the end of 1 you start to feel strong, I never felt overly weak or in a survival situation in Riptide.
At this point, I'd say buy 1 and buy Riptide when it's a little cheaper and a patch to fix the graphical and stability issues is out.
I'm still working on my Riptide playthrough, I beat the original three times. Riptide is fun, but at the same time it's a very individualized experience. You won't be guided anywhere and the storyline is rather flat, so if you're into Uncharted or Halo styled linear games or highly stylized sets, you won't get it out of Riptide, if you enjoy essentially being given a loose storyline to progress and an open world (that isn't too big to be honest) to explore, you will be more likely to enjoy it.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Dead Island
Looks like Riptide is problematic. Loving Dead Island still. Only on chapter 3, and up to level 22 or 23 now. Can someone advise how many chapters there are in the game, and how max character level? Just got the ability to stomp on heads... so love it.Comment

Re: Dead Island
About to hit Act III. Not sure if this game is extraordinarily long, or if I'm prolonging it by playing solo. I know I'm easily side tracked and just start killing things and wondering around and look up and two hours have gone by.Comment
