    Darksiders 2 release date announced

Darksiders 2 launches on 29th June for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, THQ has announced.

Pre-order from GAME, Gamestation and Gamestop in Ireland and you'll get the Death Rides pack. This includes side-quests in the Maker's Realm and Dead Plains areas. Here, you can earn additional experience and loot. You get to aid an ancient Construct, battle The Bloodless and retrieve Karn's lost treasure. THQ said today the content amounts to around two hours of gameplay.

Pre-order with Amazon.co.uk and you get the Deadly Despair pack. This gives you a speed boost for Despair that acts as a permanent perk.

There's another pre-order bonus pack, called Angel of Death, but this is yet to be tied to a retailer. With this you get a unique set of enhanced armour and an angel inspired design, a pair of upgraded matching scythes, and an exclusive visual trail for your companion crow Dust.

No mention is made, however, of the promised Wii U version, set for launch alongside the console.

You must have been close to the end because I remember you complaining about the level with those darn portals. That level was the only part of the first game I didn't like. I got so lost. Darksiders was pretty tough, I wonder how II will relate.

Yup, I'm towards the end in a battle with Uriel which I couldn't defeat her. I made the mistake of not collecting all the pieces for the armor. It didn't help having the game on Apocalyptic either.

Jesper Kyd will be scoring this.

                RPS Preview

By more mysterious I mean more imaginative. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the setting of the first game but I’d seen it before. I play games so burning cities filled with angry demons are as familiar to me as my own kitchen.

Darksiders II moves away from the familiar and into more inventive territory. The Makers’ Realm that I explored is part traditional fantasy, part proto-mechanical golem factory and altogether Vigil’s own creation. As in the original, strong voicework and an interesting companion contribute to the world-building but it’s Death himself who makes this a sequel that is more than a retread.
Darksiders II is a game that’s proud of the fact it’s a game. “Hey,” it seems to say, “isn’t it cool when chests creak open and bits of armour, potions and weapons shower out and bounces on the floor making noises that sound like joy?” And then it throws in a randomised loot system because, yes, that is cool.

As I played through I found myself obsessively collecting new scythes, boots and capes, even though I knew full well as soon as I left the building I’d never see that saved game again.
I enjoyed being Death, that’s the strongest memory. Exploring the realm and drinking in the details, gives an insight into the culture of the Makers and that’s something that the full game will take further. With four major zones to explore, each one apparently as big as the first game, there’s scope for investigation of four otherworldly people, hopefully with the same kind of hokey but engaging NPCs in each.
It’s a sequel, and it has bits and pieces of other franchises running through it, but it does all those things so well and in a world of its own making. With the first game, I thought I’d be bored of doing the same thing over and over, but it turned out there were plenty of new things to do as time went by. Death’s so much more interesting than War already and even though I’m sure he’ll end up with some of the same old tricks, I already feel that the game built around him will be more varied and, as much as anything else, a Hell of a lot more interesting to look at.

I still have the first one sitting on the shelf. I played a few hours into it, but couldn't find the time or get the urge to finish it.

I need to make it a point to go back and do that, after I finally get done with ME3..

Darksiders 2 launch date in question following THQ remarks

THQ's conviction that Darksiders 2's June 26 launch date will stick is lacking in a recent interview and in our follow-up with the publisher. In an interview between RipTen and THQ EVP Danny Bilson, a PR rep interrupts the interview following a question about the game's launch window to say the company "honestly" can't confirm the release date.

Pushed further, Bilson responds, "We haven't announced anything... but the team is working really, really hard. We're not going to ship it before it's done."
Financially troubled publisher THQ revealed on Valentine's Day that Darksiders 2 would launch on June 26.

                        Darksiders II delayed to August

"Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. It's just a short delay, but we promise the game you'll have in August will be well worth the wait!" he said.

"This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience."

If it's to further improve the game though, then ok, but I hope this doesn't have anything to do with THQ's financial woes. I'll cry myself to sleep at night if this ever gets cancelled.

                            Darksiders II Coming August 14

THQ clarified the release date for Darksiders II this afternoon. The game will ship on August 14, 2012.

CEO Brian Farrell noted that pre-sales for the game are up five times compared to the first Darksiders during the same time period. THQ also said Darksiders II will have double the marketing budget of the first title.

The game was originally scheduled to ship next month.
