Correct. I upgraded almost everything fullly and only had a few of the first story missions under my belt.

I did get the special .50 sniper rifle too, but in the end I went back to using my silenced sniper rifle with high powered scope...and made sure every shot was a headshot.

The .50 is great because it'll drop normal south island Mercs with one hit even to the vest (except for Heavies I think), but you can't silence it.

So my south island loadout was the bow/red dot (weapon of choice), silenced/hi-pwrd scope sniper rifle, Bull shottie (great for running overland for 'oh ****!' animal encounters while heading for next objective), and assault rifle/Bushman for when stealth plans break down in taking outposts and Wanted Dead objectives LOL.
I'm running with the silenced MS16 and the Grenade Launcher...

And the 2 Specials I'm using... The Shredder (love that ****ing gun!) and the AMR Sniper rifle (****ing blast as well!).

Thanks fellas. Already finding I'm out of room in my bag, and wanting more than 60 rounds of ammo.

I only have 5 more outposts to take. My favorite thing to do in this game. I think I've taken down each one differently. Open the tiger cage, snipe everyone, sneak in and do all takedown kills, set mines and claymores, Rambo style, Gunboat destruction, you name it.

Yeah, especially as you get more confident later in the game, you view each outpost as a new puzzle and how to solve it, and worry much less about your own survival.

When I first started the game, it took me bit to figure out disabling the alarms. Once I figured that out, it was fun to creep up on the camp, use rocks for distraction and sneak in to kill the alarms. Then you are free to do whatever you like without worrying about reinforcements.

But it's also fun to booby trap the roads coming into the camp with mines or C4 and let them call reinforcements

And of course, every caged animal is a wonderful opportunity for chaos.

I also liked to snipe the alarms with a silenced rifle, but also takes a bit of time since you have to maneuver around to hit all the alarms (if you shoot them you have to shoot them all).

I'd usually try to snipe off a few guys then sneak off close and takedown anyone I can.

It's got a really good stealth balance though, satisfies my craving for stealth while still being fun.

Bolded....and I used the bow/arrow for that whenever possible, including sneaking around the compound with it and doing takedowns and bow/arrow.

So you can just walk up and open the cage? I always shoot them. I guess I never thought about opening them because wouldn't the animal just attack you once it got out?

That's what I meant. Shooting. Not "mosey on up and unlock the gate"

                          Just a quick question:

Can we still free roam and complete side quests after completing the story?

                          Thanks

Yes. You have to 100 percent the game.
