    Re: Dishonored

I picked this up and over the years I've become less and less of a gamer and more of a dedicated sports gamer. I just feel that nothing apart from Sports/Racers hold my attention.

This year, apart from PES/MADDEN/2K12/13 all I played was Battlefield and some racers so I was very skeptical to pick this up.

Wow I was blown away! The plot is very typical but I love the freedom I've been given,

Once you've raised your first swarm of rats and was you watch your babies devour an entire group of soldiers, you'll know what I mean.

Pick this up folks and go cray!

That's about what it took me as well. Maybe even a little longer because I kept loading saves a lot for the first 2/3 of the mission because I was trying not to kill anyone or be spotted.

Personally I was thinking about doing that, but I went with the same lethal option you went with instead. I did decide to deal with the targets non-lethally on the second mission though. Definatly will be playthroughing this game multiple times to try all the different approaches the game offers, in terms of accomplishing objectives. Level of freedom in the game is really off the charts once you start unlocking powers.

What specifically? Are you fan of this type of game in general? Are you going the stealth or action route, or a hybrid between the two?

It really is a throwback game in a way, so I wouldn't expect it to mesh with everybody or to be everybody's cup of tea. Also keep in mind, if your still in the initial part of the game, that it starts opening up once you get your powers, and your level of freedom goes up substantially.

I love stealth games so that's why I picked this up. Just nothing pops up as a wow moment. Graphics remind me of Sykrim which obviously is not a surprise. Dunno how to say it just not feeling it. Hope that changes.

Just finished the first mission. Loving the game so far. Deff going to be hard to beat and take awhile. There are so many options when going through the mission that gives the game the option to replay it and be different.

Are you given the freedom to go anywhere and do anything like in Skyrim? Does the freedom given apply to travel and movement or does it mainly apply to combat scenarios?

The different levels are segmented. Getting from one point to another within them is where the freedom comes in, but this is not an open world game by any stretch of the imagination. Think Hitman more than Skyrim

Thank you, can you go back and revisit previous places at will like in Borderlands 2 or is it only story driven forward progression?

Will get this at some point for sure, so far it sounds like Half Life vs Bioshock. Does anyone remember an early 360/ps3 game called Time Shift? It was a straight up fps and the main gameplay hook was time manipulation. It was done well, Dishonored sounds like it incorporates a similar suite of time mechanics.

Forward story progression. Can't really go back.

Dishonored's time mechanic isn't as robust as time shift since the game isn't built around the mechanic. It's actually entirely optional.

I am thinking about returning the game, can do so within a week at Gamestop though since I sold back two games it only cost me $6. Gonna play some Witcher2 until AC comes out.

                            Re: Dishonored

I finished this yesterday. It was pretty good, but got quite repetitive.

It took me about 15 hours but I really rushed the second half of the game because it was costing me $2 a day and I got impatient because I kept getting spotted and whatnot.

It got quite difficult at the end, I was in a hurry and there was no way to buy any health for the last 2+ missions and it made the last few missions frustrating because I had to save and load A LOT since there were guys just everywhere and I had no health vials.

Worth the playthrough, but didn't quite live up to my high expectations and I'd give it an 8 or 8.5. Might pick it up again when it is under $30 just to see what happens now that I know what's going on in the levels.

Planning on trying this out, I was not interested until I saw reviews on it so I decided to give it a go and figure out for myself if it's good or not.
