So the 1-50 ranks aren't coming until April. Ugh.

However I am so glad they put in Team Doubles. The one playlist I was looking forward to since release.

Saw this. It's also disappointing that they are still planning to only have the CRS available through Waypoint, which most would agree sort of defeats the purpose.

It's a shame, because I love the gameplay on H4, but they got just about everything else wrong in my book. Lets see what exactly that is:

        • Not a good variety of maps, couple with the fact that file share STILL isn't available.
        • No CSR system. I'm almost 100% sure this is the last game where Halo won't have one. Even CoD uses one now, and there has been a huge outcry among its fans. Everyone wants one, and yes, we are all willing to put up with the rare boosters, cheaters, etc.
        • No competitive playlists. Guests allowed on every playlist I believe.
        • Lack of playlists (no assault, no snipers, no KotH, etc.)
        • Only one patch, that fixed just about nothing.

They better prepare a huge update, because with Bungie releasing a new game next fall, all of its Halo fans are likely to flock over if they do things the right way.

The competitive playlist has been added and it is called "Team Throwdown".

There is a snipers playlist along with a team objective which has king of the hill.

Majestic Map Pack releases on Monday (February 25, 2013)

            ViDoc/Trailer:

            Landfall Gameplay:

            Monolith Gameplay:

            Skyline Gameplay:

I will be capturing footage of all three maps and have them live by the afternoon on Monday. I definitely regret purchasing the first map pack. These videos will be for people who are on the fence deciding whether or not to purchase the map pack. I will update this thread when they are live and have a link to my channel below!

Awesome, I haven't been on in over a week so I guess I missed it. How does it play?

I have only played a couple of matches, but I think it is a blast. I am a gamer who likes skill to show which is why I loved Halo 2/Halo 3. I hate the "powerups" that Reach introduced and Halo 4 expanded on.

Anyways, this mode is like going back in time. Everyone has to choose from the same 5 weapon classes which is great and levels the playing field for the skill to really show. There are different gametypes, but the one I was playing had no radar...which was also great.

I think I have said this before on here, but personally as long as we have a ranking system I can live with it only being shown on Waypoint. I don't agree that it defeats the purpose either. I don't see how you could argue that at all. The only issue of it not being visible next to your name or whatever is just the pure lack of convenience and that you have to go to waypoint to see it, but it isn't hard to view waypoint. I could look up my rank on the waypoint app on my phone while I'm searching for a game if I wanted to. While that may get annoying, it doesn't take away the more important reasons for having a ranking system(being properly matched with players of your skill level, having something to work towards, being able to visibly see how good you are, etc.).

Anyway, I'm enjoying this game again. I stopped playing for well over a month but the doubles playlist has brought me back. Just so much fun. So long as I have a friend online to play with anyway. That's always been one of my favorite playlists in Halo. I'll have to check out Team Throwdown later tonight or tomorrow too. Sounds fun.

A solid argument, but I still disagree. For me, the CRS is more than just having something to work toward. Myself, as well as friends, use it as a means of comparing skills, having immediate satisfaction after a good team win (which, if you've ever used Waypoint, you'll know will never happen, as the website is almost totally inaccessible), and lastly, it engages everyone. Just by making it only available through a website or app, you make it inconvenient (as you mentioned above) for the player. What this means is that everyone aside from the most dedicated of players isn't even going to care about the rank because they can't see it. That leads to less team player, and less of a competitive spirit.

Also, I see you mentioned that it will help the game with even matchups, but the game actually already utilizes a ranking system, it's just invisible to the player. The better you are at the game, the more likely you are to be matched up with good players.

I enjoy that the game does not have a visible rank. However, I don't think matchmaking works correctly. Seven times out of ten, I am stuck with three other teammates who are just terrible.

My "visible" rank right now is a 104 and I have 10,000 kills/8,000 deaths. I should not be pared up with teammates who can't even stay even on their kill/death ratio.

                        Re: Halo 4

Title update is live as of this morning (37MB)

                        Gameplay
                        • Reduced the range of the Boltshot’s damage scaling over distance. The previous effective range for 1-hit kills was around 20-25'. The range has been reduced to 15'.
                        • Fixed an issue where modified loadouts were not being saved correctly.
                        • Fixed an issue where attempting to sprint while crouching using “hold to crouch” would cause players to be unable to shoot for 1-1.5 seconds.
                        • Fixed an issue where some players were not able to get into matches on new map/game variants after playlist updates.
                        • Fixed a DLC-related Join-in-Progress issue that kicked players back to the title screen.
                        • Fixed various issues regarding glitched Autosentry deployment.
                        • Fixed an issue where one player per session was unable to stay scoped with the Flagnum.
                        • Fixed an issue where clients playing multi-round matches were not propelled by Man Cannons after the first round on Wreckage.
                        • Fixed an issue for players who had licensed content for the specialization offer, and had the free Map Pack content, but did not have the Map Pass or Map Pack license by displaying a new error message: “You have Map Pack content that requires a license. Please purchase the War Games Map Pass, purchase the Map Pack individually, or delete the Map Pack content from your console.”

                        Vehicles
                        • Fixed issues with friendly fire against vehicles. If FF is disabled, damage/EMPs from friendly sources will no longer damage vehicles that are fully controlled by your team.
                        • Fixed an issue with where the Wraith secondary turret became disabled when shot with a Plasma Pistol. The feature has been updated to be consistent with previous Halo titles.
                        • Fixed a Mantis functionality exploit that allowed pilots to survive planted grenades.

                        Specific Game Modes
                        • Friendly fire turned off in Flood to prevent exploits.
                        • Fixed Flood character models to allow for Warthog and Mongoose use.
                        • Fixed an inconsistency with King of the Hill deathcam.
                        • Fixed an issue where the Grifball would get stuck in geometry and never respawn.
                        • Fixed the issue for Extraction where players did not regain full control of their character for extended periods of time after interacting with a site.
                        • Fixed multiple Extraction scoring issues, including an overtime fix that ensures that a victory will not be awarded to a team who is controlling the go-ahead extraction point when the game ends.

                        Custom Games
                        • Fixed an issue that did not allow players to create respawn timers or disable instant respawn in custom games.
                        • Fixed an issue on Shatter where players couldn’t start a custom Dominion game.
                        • Fixed an issue where the Ordnance game options reset when scrolling up or down in custom games.
                        • Fixed an issue where custom game descriptions did not appear in the “Settings” preview screen.
                        • Fixed inconsistencies and bugs in the final death cam for custom games.

                        Spartan Ops
                        • Fixed an issue where the “Dedicated to Crimson” Achievement could not be unlocked.
                        • Fixed an issue where players in Spartan Ops Episode 6 Mission 1 were able to look around before the vignette.

                        Miscellaneous
                        • Fixed a selection of issues where theater clips were missing map-specific audio, including ambient noise and announcer voice.
                        • Fixed File Share preview images for films and map variants.
                        • Fixed issues with in-game translations.
                        • Fixed title screen camera clipping.
                        • Fixed an issue with Forge pieces and the shadows they create.
                        • Fixed aliasing split screen HUD issues.
                        • Fixed an issue where some saved films of Forge games featured no Forge lighting.

I captured a video of Team Throwdown for those of you who still have not played it. As you can see it definitely a nod to Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Everyone is forced to have the same loadout, kills are worth 1 point and the first team to 50 wins.

I am having a good time with the new playlist. I am still trying to get used to playing with the BR though because I only use the DMR in Halo 4. That is why in that video I am not a lot better than I should be haha

Anyways, the mode in the video above is definitely the most frequently used. They do have a different gametype which allows for 5 loadouts. The first loadout gives you a DMR, but no "powerup". The next four loadouts give you a BR with different powerups. The good thing is they avoid the powerful/unfair powerups like Promethean vision.

Reminder that the Majestic Map Pack releases tomorrow. Here are the full details from Major Nelson.

                                http://majornelson.com/2013/02/19/ha...week-feb-25th/

Landfall: A shining city under attack…
The world of Tribute is now a graveyard, but its capital was once a bright beacon of commerce among the inner colonies. Fight in the corridors and courtyards of Casbah’s port authority buildings, but don’t stand still too long. Perfect for Infinity Slayer, this small to midsize asymmetrical map offers interiors with sparse cover, which encourages close-range combat, while the exteriors offer long lines of sight to stalk your opponents. Awesome jump routes let players spring around the outside of the map, incidentally offering a perfect view of the city as it is razed by the Covenant’s brutal assault.

Monolith: Adrift in a forgotten asteroid belt…
This monument and many like it were built by the Forerunners after their final victory over the ancient humans. This small map has central man-cannons, short corridors, almost no cover, and open sightlines which make the location great for a mixture of close and mid-range battle. Monolith harkens back to more classic “Halo” arena-based maps, and its symmetry lends nicely to objective-based modes like Capture the Flag. Monolith is an open battlefield; wherever you look, you will witness the ferocious action that only a small and open map can provide.

                                Skyline: Combat analysts agree…
The rooftop terrain on this new space tether construction site is an ideal training environment for close-quarters infantry combat. This map, perched high above the sights of reconstruction in Cascade’s capital city, is small and symmetrical, perfect for Regicide with a mixture of high and low spaces and plenty of cover. Don’t think cover means you’re safe, however – this map holds explosive fuel cells that can and will wreak havoc in Skyline’s confined spaces, not to mention the long, long drop if you misstep.

The Majestic Map Pack will be available on Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft Points. Players who purchase the “Halo 4” War Games Map Pass* or “Halo 4” Limited Edition will receive access to both the Crimson and Majestic Map Packs as well as the final map pack when it releases in April at a 15 percent savings versus purchasing them individually.1

                                New Game Type: “Infinity Rumble”

“Halo 4’s” new game type, Infinity Rumble, is exclusive for a limited time to Majestic Map Pack owners and brings a few new twists to the War Games experience. It is a free-for-all game type where players can earn personal ordnance; all special medal and style kills help you earn ordnance faster, and you can also earn assists off of enemy players for even more medal points. Players must carefully conserve and use their ordnance at just the right moment, or combine power-ups with power weapons in the race to be first. Every kill, and every death counts in Infinity Rumble, and this is reflected with a slower spawn time in the free-for-all matches.

New Playlists: “Majestic Team DLC” and “Majestic FFA DLC”

The Majestic Map Pack also brings two new playlists to the War Games experience:

Majestic FFA DLC (8 players): Majestic FFA is an incredibly intense free-for-all playlist. Players are all alone in this playlist with seven others, vying for first place!

Majestic Team DLC (4 vs. 4): Majestic Team DLC is a 4 vs. 4 playlist that focuses on both team play and tight objective combat.

The new maps will also be integrated into existing Infinity Slayer, Capture the Flag, SWAT, Regicide, Doubles, Team Objective, and Team Throwdown playlists. DLC maps will appear in a playlist if all members of the match have the content purchased or the War Games Map Pass.
I will try to get videos up of all three maps as soon as possible tomorrow. I am planning on doing a short fly-through of each map so you can get a feel for the map. Then I will capture gameplay so you can see how the maps play out.

Hopefully this will help some people decide if they want to purchase the Majestic Map Pack considering spending $10 is hard to justify for 3 maps.
