Re: Halo 4
Yeah, I've been playing some too. The leveling system seems to work very well, but the fact that it isn't visible in the game is kind of a killjoy. Still, the game is much better now than it was at launch. Particularly, the choice of maps.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Halo 4
Seems like the CSR system actually takes kills into consideration. I haven't played Halo much in awhile, but I just played BTB 5 times (4 wins/1 loss) and I am already a 26.

I know what your saying, and right now you very well could be right. But since launch I've just been playing well over my skills in previous Halos. It just clicked in this one.Comment

Gametrailers: What We Want From Halo
<div style="background-color:#000000;width:520px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><iframe src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/embed/mgid:arc:video:gametrailers.com:55cebca6-d5fa-484b-9c2b-3dc8662bb854" width="512" height="288" frameborder="0"></iframe><p style="text-align:left;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding:4px;margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:0px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><b><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/games/rjnt7v/next-xbox">Next Xbox</a></b></p></div></div>
Summary:
- Embrace Sci-Fi weapons instead of a safe new direction as revealed at GDC, move away from one dimensional "lining up headshots" metagame.
- Return to large-scale environments that made an impact with Halo (they use AoTCR as an example), cite smaller Halo 4 environments as a yellow flag.
- Simple, direct, contained story premise that allows everyone to keep up without buying novels, etc.
- Be the innovator in multiplayer again. Also implement a proper map editor akin to Trials HD or LBP, embrace community aspects once again, be rid of XP grinds and unlocks that go against the innovator legacy of Halo.

Re: Halo 4
I haven't had much fun with Halo since 3 and even ODST to a certain extent.
I want to go back to simpler times and quit messing with the weapons too much. I don't like the ability to edit loadouts and being able to select active camo as a perk at all times is bad for the overall experience.
So many people camp hard with a DMR and active camo for the majority of the round. It may be a strategy, but it takes away from the arcade feel of Halo games in the past.
The overall map design and gameplay just gets stale fast. You hear a bunch of single shot rifles and pistols going off at all times.
I was just really disappointed with Halo 4.Comment

Re: Halo 4
Totally agree with the last summary point. I think the lack of XP is what made the Halo multiplayer experience so much fun. You didn't have XP and everyone just had the same spartan...it came down to pure skill.
Now, everyone has powerups and it makes the game untolerable.Comment

Re: Halo 4
Nobody played ranked in Halo Reach, at most times you'd be lucky to see 300-500 total people in a ranked playlist. The popularity of ranked playlists dwindled from Halo 2 to Halo 3, but it really fell off with Reach. Part of the reason for this is Bungie insisted on calling it the Arena, instead of simply 'ranked' and on top of that the season were way too short. You had to play a large number of games just to get placed into a ranking, and by the time you did that half the season was over. The idea is nice in theory, and it works wonderfully in other multiplayer games like Starcraft 2 and League of Legends, but it was poorly executed in Reach.Lux y VeritasComment

Good to see some good custom maps being added. The next Halo NEEDS an easier way to play custom maps in matchmaking without 343i adding them in.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

That to an extent is why I have been playing Swat exclusively for a long time. It was always about power weapons and knowing the weapon spawns. I always felt like in Swat that it was more one on one, first to the trigger and accurately to the head won.
