Yeah, the marketing for the fighting system being "Makes the combat more like Batman: Arkham Asylum/City" that is NOT a bad thing. Wanna talk about catharsis factor? Great way to blow off steam by wiping out mook after mook.

Well they did that because it'd be a complete unplayable mess otherwise which people don't seem to realize every time they complain about this. I believe it started coming up towards the end of the last one and Arkham City as well. You get locked into an animation but then you're attacked and can't do anything about it,particularly bad when guns started to get involved. That's not challenging that's just cheap, poor design and bad gameplay. Plus there was probably something about honor and not attacking someone from behind. Countering a guy, chain killing 5 guys, countering another guy and chain killing 3 more was the whole fun of the combat. That or just walking up to a guy with a heavy weapon and busting heads. This sounds clunky and unfun.

If you're getting locked into animations and losing control during Batman's combat, you're doing it wrong and your timing is off. I could pull off 30-50 hit combos EASY in that game, including when guys had guns... all that you need to do is use the bat claw to yank the guns from their hands between punches.

If the combat in this game is even at half the level of polish it was in either Batman game, then this series just got infinitely better.

And guys standing around not attacking because of an honor code? Lol... c'mon man. There's making excuses, and then, well, there's that.

            Re: Assassin's Creed III

I am diving into ACIII after skipping brotherhood and revelations.

I did extensively play the first and somewhat of the second.

Dare I say, I found the first game a little boring? The second one showed more promise but then the usual sports games pulled me out.

I did play revelations only as MP though and I thought that was fun.

Reason I am getting the III is due to my love for the setting. I just love our national history and the whole colonial America with its open wilderness sounds far too tempting to resist.

Plus its giving vibes of my all time favorite this generation game RDR (with the hunts and woodland settings).

Anyone know if there will be a free roam MP? Darn shame if they don't considering the amazing environment.

You are either terrible at the Batman combat or you haven't played the games and are making this stuff up.

Guess all the excellent reviews were wrong? That was probably the best combat in a game and even sleeping dogs took the style and it turned out excellent as well. Bad statement.

Not to hijack the thread too much, but for those of you who like to read and like the setting of ACIII, there is a series of books (28 or so) just like this.

The "White Indian Series" by Donald Clayton Porter is this exact setting. A Seneca chief finds a white settlers baby during a raid on a colonial settlement. Is intrigued by the baby for it not crying and takes it home to raise as his own. The series starts about 100 years before the Revolutionary war and follows the family line for several generations as the US is born and grows.

Flightwhite strikes again.....might as well start calling him Hustle Man. You want it, he got it or he can get it for you. Some times I picture him walking around with a big trench coat on and he opens it up saying games on the left, gaming headsets on the right, what you want chief ?
