I never expected to be playing SimCity before the Show tonight/this morning, but it just downloaded in about half the time it's taken to download half of The Show. Go figure.

Well, so far my first city is trailer park central...but hey, at least they're happy!

Just decided to start small with low density streets - wanted to build up some cash flow before trying to actually build into a real city. It's never been easier to start up a small town than it is in this game - that's for sure.

I really need to work on building straight road systems too - they just look all out of whack if you don't snap them to the grid.

Haha yea, it's kind of goofy having curved roads with such a small area to play with, it would behoove everyone to just stick with the grid layout.

Pretty solid metacritic reviews. The user reviews are bad but it's related to city size and server issues so I'm not worried one bit about this game.

Haven't been able to play it yet(left it downloading as I went to work) I did however played the Beta which I enjoyed very much. It's gonna be difficult to play this and the Show at the same time but I'm up for the challenge

I have yet to play it but by most accounts, the Servers are failing.

I couldn't connect to my city on the NA East servers this morning, but was able to see my friends game on the NA West and visit them and stuff just fine.

Game is a lot more functional day one than I expected.

Agreed. Much better than Blizzard's Diablo 3 cluster****.

I think I'm going to hold off on buying for a few days until they have all the kinks worked out. I can't believe people are even a little surprised that the servers suck, it literally happens to every EA major launch.

I'm more surprised at how well they are running rather than not. Shortly after my last post I was able to get into my city and play NP.

I have the disc based version, and I can't install because Origin says there is a "Slow Network". Grrrrr....

My biggest complaint/problem is the friend system in origin seems really poor. To find friends initially I had to be on the same server. Since these are Origin friends rather than SimCity friends this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Supposedly the disk version only has 2 gigs of the game... there's still like another 8 to download. Or put another way: there is no point to having the disk.

Well now the code is saying it was already used, and the game doesn't show up in my Origin library.

That really blows, definitely going to wait a few days now. I have heard there is pretty serious bugs involving water, power, sewage, and the sims not going to school.

Hadn't heard about the others, but schools are definitely working for me. Since time passes like a normal day I think you only see the movement of buses and kids in the morning and early afternoon. I had an overcrowding problem for a while and made some additions to the school, but the effect didn't really start showing up until the additional kids started pouring in at around 7 AM the next day (as going by the in-game clock).

And of course, you have to place school bus stops in residential areas or you're not going to get those areas educated anyway.
