Companies are stubborn and the consumer isnt focused enough to force them away from it. Sim City will be fine, give it a week and this will all be a memory.

SC2's launch went fine IMO, but it wasn't truly "always online". D3 was, and it was a complete disaster. I stil hesitate to say this is worse, because I think it was 2 or 3 days after launch before I could even log into D3. Server issues, nerfed features and all, I've still been able to play Simcity several times since the launch.

Yeah, and I don't think it worked out all that well for D3 anyway in the end. I still see a ton of hate for that game online.

Mostly because of the Real Money Auction House and a lot of design decisions that suddenly make a lot more sense now that they're releasing for consoles.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was never actually 'pulled' but rather the product switching over from Limited to Standard edition which pulled both their SKUs down (it remained for sale from other vendors).

I'm always surprised at people defending a company's obviously bad strategy.

"Oh, stop complaining about the money you just spent NOW on a game that launched today but can't play until next week!"

Seriously? Not everyone has uber fast internet or can always stay online or always have stable internet connections. If they want to make a MMO, label it as such but don't disguise online only games as single player games because single player games allow the player to play WHENEVER they want, offline or online.

My origin name is Darkbandit14 in case anyone wants to add me. I was actually able to get in tonight and did finally get to play a little bit and from what I see it's going to be fun once the servers get stabilized and OSVille gets created for good. I was able to create a practice region if anyone is interested as well.

Haven't played too much (maybe an hour total), but I'm enjoying it. Been lucky enough not to have any big issues getting on a server. Now I just need to figure out how to build up medium/high wealth areas.

took me a while too, add parks that have the 3 simoleons symbol next to em, and watch the sky scrappers rise very quickly









heres a city i built in sandbox mode, i just wanted to see the potential look of a city when i finished one on normal

oh and how do i capture images from game, i see the setting for resolution for capping images, i just don't know the command to do it

How can you disagree with any of this? I gave EA $60 for what? It's not like where in Madden where people bitch about the gameplay, I have yet to be able to play 15 minutes of this game.

Whose defending this strategy? I don't see anyone defending it except for EA, and even they aren't doing that much defending it right now.
