I'm sorry man, but based on their history, I don't see how anyone can believe EA actually gives a crap about customer satisfaction to the level you are suggesting.

Fact is there's no way to truly test how servers will perform under heavy load other than putting them under heavy load. Even more so for an always online game. I think EA has realized this fact and just said F it - our marketing team is still top notch, that's all that matters.

if they want to treat this game like an MMO they could do what actual MMOs do and have a free to download stress test for the game the week before it releases.
Not only do you test servers, but you can also gain users you might not have gained previously by providing an "demo" of sorts.

To be fair, I don't think they would have needed to market this game all that much anyway - SimCity sells by name and and reputation alone. Well, it did, anyway....we'll see how it does after this. This is going to damage the brand in a lot of people's minds - it was always easier to think of this more as a Maxis title than an EA one (and the negative stigma attached to that name). Now...not so much.

Ten years passed since the last real Simcity game (not Societies) - all they would have had to say is "hey, we're making another one" and it probably would have sold.

There's a problem right now though - region filtering is disabled, meaning we can't search for a specific one to join. I'm starting to get into the game easier now, but the social aspects are going to have to wait, it seems.

And even some of the 5-star ratings are sarcastic...this one is good for some yuks:

"A lot of people have not figured out how to play this game, BUT I DID! At first I thought I was paying around $80 for the game and the extra deluxe stuff to actually be able to play it and build cities. Then the whole server thing started happening and game crash after and I started getting mad....but that was when I realized that THAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS GAME! Now I spend hours on end trying to uninstall and reinstall to get rid of the constant tutorial that I played through three times already, connecting to different servers only to be told that they are down, not finding my old cities on the servers I managed to connect to for an hour or so, and raging on the forums I hope they make a leader-board for these stats soon because I'm pretty sure I'm going to be at the top of them! WINNING LIKE CHARLIE SHEEN BABY!!!"

LMAO, great sarcasm-like something I'd write.

I still plan to buy this game but I'm going to wait a little while before getting it.

I feel bad for Maxis, their reputation is gettin shat on by EA. I don't normally call for heads but this is insane, someone needs to be fired. I am not touching this game until everything is squared away so I'm just rooting for chaos at this point.

It's funny, I mentioned that I was trying to create OSVille earlier this afternoon. I just signed in and now I have 5 of them listed and cannot delete any of them..oy

Unless this is still a problem this time next week this won't really do anything to Maxis. People who never play will be the ones bringing up the launch issues ad infinitum, just like w/ Diablo 3 - and they'll blame EA, not Maxis for the most part.

The disabled features are a good indicator of them trying to do anything possible to try and get this more stable before the weekend. Really going to miss Cheetah speed though, hope that's temporary.

Better use private games. If you can manage to play there's a glitch where you can go into other people's cities and spend their money to build parks in their city and screw some stuff up.

You can watch giantbomb do it here: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/that...013/2300-7114/

Also put forward the idea of building a road in a city in someone else's region then just leaving it.

All EA had to do was to put in an option for offline single player lol
