Re: GTA 4, RDR or LA Noire?
To me, LA Noire was the single greatest let down of this generation.
The storyline was repetitive. Every case was identical to the one that preceded it.
The main character and supporting cast were emotionally thin and stereotypes.
The facial animations, or "tells", were over the top and unrealistically twitchy. They came off as cartoon-y at best.
The gunplay was incredibly unimpressive with shooting scenes that were remarkably undiverse. Almost like they were implemented as an afterthought. Do one shootout and you've done them all.
The chase scenes occured so often that I thought Cole was auditioning to be an olympic athlete.
Your partner's dialogue during car rides is the worst ever put out in a Rockstar title (I mean, I loved riding around with people in RDR).
The side missions were the worst I've ever seen in any video game that I've ever had the displeasure of playing. They were identical to one another. All 167 or so of them. LOL!
RDR is possibly the greatest game of all-time. So yourself a favor and get that.Comment

I disagree with a lot of your points, but this one is the most blatant one. Rusty's dialogue alone was amazing. Plus there is a lot to be learned about the main character during these exchanges.

It's been so long since I've seen a game that people disagree on, like LA Noire. I absolutely loved the game, but felt like I blew through it reasonably quick. I did use the vibration hints for clues, though. It's a fun game to hunt trophies for and the story is pretty solid.
I was a little bamboozled with the break in the game, right as you start on the Vice squad, but in the end, it all made sense.Comment

I'm with you and even though I loved the game I could see why some people don't like it. I would like to the age of the people that didnt like it vs the people that did. But using the reason to not like it bc of gunplay is silly bc its not a shooting game and never claimed to be. Also the excuse of it gets repitive also doesnt make sense bc in just about most games you are doing the same thing over and over agian.
I never expected to have to use my gun as much as I did when I first picked up that title. LOL!
I hope you guys realize that I respect all your opinions. My rant was meant to be all in good fun.
It had loads of potential and the first few chapters were great. So though it's not the worst game I ever played, it is by far the biggest let down.Comment

Yes, it did get a little repetative, but I even thought some of the action was pretty exciting...
SpoilerThe scene where you chase the serial killer under his shack down into the sewers was AWESOME.
To each their own, but, while I wouldn't rank it up there with Red Dead, it was still a fantastic game.Comment

I gotta go with RDR as well, excellent story, great graphics, and very tight controls.
The problem is, once you play RDR, the controls for GTA will feel like crap. LA Noire is a love or hate game, I personally thought it was pretty stale. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Yah, I really liked the game as well. The story alone was worth the ride. I also thought the art design was absolutely beautiful, with each area of the city feeling so unique and detailed. The acting was also top notch, especially combined with the facial animations.

At least since first firing up the original Splinter Cell. Following the clues to his hideout was a rush and the shootout was nuts. Crawling through catacombs chasing a serial killer. That was an awesome story and gameplay combo.
Personally, I would rank LA Noire above RDR. I had fun with the game, but maybe I'm more of an RPG guy when it comes to open world titles.

Re: GTA 4, RDR or LA Noire?
I wanted to like LA Noire so badly, but the game took a hold of your hand and just refused to let go.
The whole premise behind solving missions was so cookie cutter it ruined the experience for me. I wanted to solve crimes, not be forcefully pointed in the only logical direction until someone tells me exactly what happened and then acts like I'm a great detective.
I never felt like I was doing anything in that game that a 5 year old couldn't do. It all felt far too one dimensional and scripted, all I wanted was for the game to stop holding my hand and let me be a detective but imo it never did that.Comment

Did you play with the hints/help turned off? I scoured the scenes for clues and once you hit homicide the interrogations to me got noticeably more difficult to read especially since all the evidence was circumstantial.
