Loving this game and i'm not really doing the main story still...had 2 guys try to hack me, one was walking trying to blend out..BLASTED him! Then another I found in a parking lot slump in his car. I stood there looking at him for a few seconds like are you serious? Guess he thought I couldn't see him or thought I would think he was a regular person....well surprise...BLASTED him!

Can you have cars repaired and can you store cars somewhere?

Cant hack friends in game unless you get lucky and they show up on matchmaking. You can hack friends on the mobile app but they have to accept it for you to do it.

You also cant put your own music in and there isnt anywhere to store cars.

Is there anything to be gained for leaving gifts at hot spots? Or is it simply something to do.

Agreed on the GOTY commentary in this thread. It is for me so far this year for sure.

            Re: Watch Dogs

I'm mostly terrible at catching anyone hacking me. I did catch one person trying to hide in a car parking by a garage. Now I know what you guys mean by saying it's sweet to shoot a bullet into the dome of someone trying to act slick in a car.

I did have one person try to hack me that ended up getting away when I spotted him. So upsetting. He found a car near the tracks and somehow survived the bullets I shot through the window. I couldn't find a car fast enough to catch him.

I have not been successful tailing anyone while hacking. Since I don't know if someone is tailing me, is there a notification? Because it seems people figure it out. I just don't understand how.

I tried one tailing mission and was successful. At first I was being pretty slick, the guy was just running around and I parked just around a corner and hid. I initiated the hack and he immediately started profiling the cars on the street. Seeing this, I got out of the car I was in and acted as a NPC, he was so focused on the cars that he walked right by me. I then got into a car that he already profiled as he turned the corner to where I just was. At around 90% he just started running away and got too far from me, so I started the car up and slowly crept along trying to get back in range.

He ran down an alley and jumped over a fence, so I just slowly drove down the alley behind him. At around 98%, he unexpectedly just turns around, runs back and jumps over the fence into the alley, right as it got to 100% he was in front of me.... what a priceless moment.

Only time you'll know if someone is tailing you is if you try and start a quest while they are in your game. It will give you the invaded prompt and a circle on the map that doesn't shrink I believe.

So if you're being tailed and they hack you, and you don't start a mission, you'll never know?

Do you get negative notoriety for this?

I also saw an NPC(?) that the game told me was being tailed by someone online.

Anyone know what that's about? Is it just another one of those random profiles or is it possible someone was tailing me and was being tailed himself?

You'll know if they hack you - that progress bar will appear and the area he's in will glow blue on the minimap.

I don't think tails (where you only observe the other player) count against the victim.

Every time I get on this game, I play a mission, get side tracked, and then somehow end up killing many people.

Got it. So people are tailing just to see what people are doing. That's cool.

I've always been tailing and then start the hack as prompted.

If you're paranoid like me you can always pause the game every 2 minutes. If everything is still moving around you then someone is in your game. From there I just get in a car and start driving while watching behind me. Sooner or later the person will follow in their car and they are easy to spot.

Yeah, Tailing and Hacking are two different forms of the multiplayer. For tailing you only have to get close enough to the other player to profile him, then just watch him as a progress indicator goes up to 100%. You have to keep them in your line of sight or else the progress stops, and if they're out of it for too long a countdown to mission failure starts. If you're profiled by the victim, you still have to evade without killing them just like in hacking (but they can and are encouraged to kill you).

Here's an example of a tail I posted earlier in the thread:

                              <object height="360" width="640">

Ah that's what happening. I'm being profiled while tailing. Was trying to figure out why I kept getting caught.
