Honestly DS 2 is an almost perfect blend of the first two.

And in regards to the aforementioned poster, if you want to get acclimated to DS2, than get DS. If you want to get accustomed to the game play in general than do Demon Souls and work your way up. Demon Souls is generally a bit easier than Dark Souls (not that i'd consider any point of the game as outright easy') . I hit that 'brick wall' substantially less in demon souls than dark souls. Honestly, 1-4 is the only time I've constantly had to redo an area in Demon Souls, while there were a few in Dark Souls that took more than just a few tries through.

Just finished my first session. Oh man, I love this game.

The new characters introduced are likeable, especially the crew in the "hub". I caught myself standing around the hub, just to listen to the music playing. As for progress, I'm between

, did anyone else parry and nail him in the face with the Bastille(sp?). It took 90% of his health and made the fight insanely easy. It was a cool boss fight, I want that sword and armor. I noticed that they throw more enemies at you, and ones that can pack a punch. I was exploring

The Lost Bastille, and the Elite Knights swarmed me until I kited 1-2 of them at a time.

Lost Bastille, is going to be another O & S for me, three of them and they wrecked me easily

. That said, there is a nice ring

that gives you more Souls per kill in the area, and a interesting female NPC in the area, leaning against the wall, really like the character.

I spent about an hour trying to unlock the second bonfire in Bastille. The guy wouldn't kick the damn explosive barrel that was hiding the door.So I'll try and take down the sentinels tomorrow. Have you gone to No Man's Wharf, yet?

I spent about an hour trying to unlock the second bonfire in Bastille. The guy wouldn't kick the damn explosive barrel that was hiding the door.So I'll try and take down the sentinels tomorrow. Have you gone to No Man's Wharf, yet?

you can push the barrel into place yourself and just swing a sword at it to blow it up. Unless he is hitting the barrel at the top of the staircase.

wtf, anyone else get the heebies with those creature sounds. They but me out. I bought a Pharro Lockstone and lit of the place. There's a merchant upstairs who buys equipment. Chest on the right in merchant room is trapped.

Those sentinels are no joke at all. I went in and one landed on me right away and that was pretty much it.

in the Bastille, I want to say after jumping down and taking care of the three Dogs and the archer(the doorway where you first walk across the ledge to get into the Bastille). It was a steel chest by itself. I'll go back and look for sure later, going on a whirlwind of things and locations from last night

What weapons are you guys using? I'm using

a Fire and Lightning sword I've found so far. Shards are easy to buy, and both are at +3. Fire is insanely good for the first part of the game, and lightning for anything else

Also, as a non spoiler, when did Rings get durability? Every one I've found early on has weapon like durability and an actual number. Also noticed that my weapons repair themselves if I rest at a bonfire.

Huntsman's Copse

is kicking my *** as a sorcerer/sword hybrid. (Staff in right sword in left). There's a point where you meet these FAST enemies that are relentless. I can't even tell where because I got lost in the damn place.

I played a little last night. Did not die once. I basically played like a complete wuss and just forged ahead to the outdoors area with our friend, the depressed knight. This time I did not try to fight like him in DS1..lol.

I am a warrior class and I got the last free item since it sounded so unsexy. The petrified wood. Maybe it will be awesome down the road. The life ring just sounded like id barely wear it.

So know I should probably go back and into the mists. I REALLY need a weapon. I have a broken sword and am scared to do anything..lol. Even those little pink pigs take too long for me to kill so I ended up running away from them like a wuss and then bon firing before I died.

Will the mist areas hook me up with a weapon, or what do I need to do?

Im also real curious about that giant guy with his back to me at the start where the footprints are. God this game...haha. It's the only game where I don;t just run around and jump into trouble. Any sign of trouble, like that castle with the levers, I just turn around get the heck out of there. Im just not in shape to fight anyone until I get a real sword and level it a little.

On a side note, how about those rings the cat sells? The one where you can hear enemies talking sounds AWESOME.

Looks like we are all in the same area, haha.

My weapons:

Right now, I'm using a juiced up Halberd. It has a mega reach and the two handed 360 swing is deadly. Takes out hoards of enemies in one hit. I'm one dex point away from using the Twinblade, though. That thing looks beautiful.

I really want the Pursuer's sword. I hope I can craft it, later on.

This game is awesome, and as much as I like DS1, I might like this better. Most, if not all, of the changes are welcome ones, to me.

Anyone in a covenant?

I beat both bosses now at Heides tower of flame area. Heading back to the Wharf for that fight then idk where to go next. :|

Head back to the town and head again the direction of Heides tower. Theres a change in the room with the pillar there you'll definitely notice that will lead to
