I really don't ever roll. Every time I roll I usually just get hit, I'm sure I don't do it right. I just block with my shield and wait for my opportunity to strike.

Re: Dark Souls II
Also, how often do you guys actually utilize your shield, if you have one equipped that is? I bought the Silver Eagle Kite Shield in Manjula that blocks 90% of physical damage, but I don't know if it was a mistake. I've rarely blocked, as my first instinct is to roll, but I suppose I could save some stamina by blocking.

I just use shields for their buff status. I'm using the slumbering dragon shield because it improves stamina recovery.

Re: Dark Souls II
Made it through Huntman's Copse and beat the area boss without dying. Felt really good. I still have an area or 2 to explore there I think. One path branched off fairly early that I didn't take, and I didn't go through thatSpoilerskeleton cave after seeing some mage rez all the skeletons and leak curse fog everywhere. Just looks like an alternate way to get to the boss though, so might need to run through and look for items.
Also noticed there was a note on the floor in the Skelton Lords room saying there was an illusory wall. Only problem is I can't hit A to open the wall since the message on the floor is in the way. Is there really a wall there? Didn't see a Pharros Lockstone anywhere for it to be one of those walls that you hit, so it seems like it would be the ones in Bastille that you just hit A on to open.
The boss in Sinner's Rise is kicking my *** though. Haven' had this much trouble since the Old Dragonslayer.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

As for me, tons of progress!
I finally took out the Sentinels, just required patience and a sweet 100% block shield. I alsoSpoilerstumbled into the Skeleton Lord fight. That was the easiest boss in the game for me, hands down. Made it through the fog forest to talk to the guy's head, am now wearing his helmet.
I like the sense of progress I'm feeling, as my hub is starting to fill up, and more areas are open. I'm currently edging throughSpoilerthe windmill areaComment

Dark Souls II
Just wanted to say, (late game spoiler, it's not a boss spoiler, just a huge tip if you do mind keeping sane and not be overwhelmingly frustrated. It hurts even more especially considering how I said my character has very low health.)
SpoilerDo. Not. Pull. The. Lever.
You will know what lever I am talking about once you get there. It may be tomorrow night or it might take you a few weeks to get there. Just don't do it. I'm already regretting it. Don't think I can take it much longer.. Might have to do what needs to be done

Re: Dark Souls II
Made it all the way up to and throughSpoilerEarthen Peak, only to run into snake woman, holding her head in a room full of poison. Granted I stumbled into the boss room, but holy hell. I can't imagine surviving a whole fight in water, constantly poisoned...
My Boss to do list:
Snake Woman in Earthen
Scorpion Woman in the forest
Sinner's
Man, the +1 ring fromSpoilerthe old woman shop keep really helps with the souls. I farmed the dinosaur like things in the basement of Sinners, nice chunk of souls before they went away.Last edited by LambertandHam; 03-18-2014, 01:50 AM.Comment

Dark Souls II
It's hard to miss. There's a bunch of messages that you cannot rate so I believe they were placed by the developers. Please listen to their multiple warnings and don't be like me.
I am this close to respeccing my guy and getting some vigor to at least survive for more than a second.

Re: Dark Souls II
Update:
SpoilerLike I said, the game has REALLY opened up for me. I was hopping back and forth between areas like nothing last night. My character:
44 Strength
25 Dex
20 Vitality
24 Vigor
18 Endurance
20 Adaptability
+10 Giant Club
Havel's Armor, Knight's helm/leggings
Holy crap, the +10 Clubs are ridiculous. I have a Pursuer Ultra Greatsword +3, and it's still way outclassed. I'm also in the midst of leveling up a Grym Great Hammer, and that thing seems OP as well. 300+ damage at plus 2, and it levels up all the way to +10.
Took down the Old Iron King with relative ease. Had a little trouble with the Rat King Authority, but Rat Vanguard was really easy. I used co-op to take down the Duke's spider, because every time I would get her close to low health my weapons were about to break. I'm lucky because I got through The Gutter on my first try. I beat The Rotten after four or five tries, and then helped other people with him until I could level up about five times.
So now I'm in this huge castle and its pouring ran on the exterior. It's pretty damn creepy, but I haven't had a ton of trouble getting through it thus far.Writer for Operation Sports
