Re: The Witcher 3
I'll say it again for anyone interested in this game, I was in the same boat, heard a lot of great things but wasn't sure if it was for me.
I'm probably about half way through the game (level 18), and I can safely say Witcher 3 is one of the greatest games of all-time.
Hands down, no brainer, must buy!Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
This game just astounds me. It's more alive than any game world I've ever played in. Not sure if this simple side quest that just ambushed me is part of the dlc or I just never triggered the right circumstances. A random Npc approached me in Oxenfurt asking me questions about...
Spoilermy substantial increase in income recently. Raised some eyebrows I guess. Questions about selling hides and pearls and taking things from people's houses. I answered honestly. Of course I've done all that.
Now, I have to pay taxes?!?!

Re: The Witcher 3
SpoilerHaha, the quest was added to the game as a joke by the developers, in response to the discovery of several money exploits in the game. Here is another response from the devs after they found out people were killing the cows early in the game for quick money:

Re: The Witcher 3
I'm still chugging along...been at it on and off since June 2015.
Level 22 and I put all abilities points into Signs. My fire can almost melt stone.
Haven't used a sword in months and lately I un-equipped my 'trousers' just for a laugh seeing Geralt run around in Witcher armor and chonies wrecking anything and everything that opposes me.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I'm not sure the experience of The Witcher's world can be reproduced. I have faith that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be great, but I'm not so sure that world can draw me in the way The Witcher 3 did for 200+ hours of gameplay.
For me, it isn't about how much there is to do. I don't need to hunt, race, play cards (though Gwent is awesome), or track down every item collection in the game. Messing with NPCs is only entertaining for so long, but in the end it still feels just like a game giving you tools to mess around. The things that made The Witcher 3 stand alone were the countless side quests that built up the world and its characters. Side quests that were arguably as good as its main quest. I cannot think of another game that seemed to put as much focus into its side quests as its main narrative. TW3 featured so many memorable minor characters that I still look back and can not only remember their names, but remember their entire story in a vivid fashion.
For me this game is a once in a lifetime game like Super Mario Bros 3, Ocarina in Time, Metal Gear Solid 3, and GTA 3.

Re: The Witcher 3
The Baron quests and the missing wife/shady sister side quest were the best ones for me. I found myself putting my controller down at different points for each with my jaw on the floor.

Re: The Witcher 3
The Baron quest is when I realized what a masterpiece we had been gifted by CDPR. I had a....less than desired resolution to that quest whereSpoilerthe Baron had hung himself
With how invested I was in that quest, it stuck with me for the remainder of my playthrough.Comment

I look forward to starting this game after my second playthrough of Skyrim Remastered.
I started it before The Show 16 dropped and played 20 hours. It was fantastic and I barely scratched the surface. After The Show dropped I abandoned the game.
I am going to restart it when I commit to it. I picked up the hard cover guide and will read it thoroughly to figure out the build I want and get all the previous lore into my grey matter.
It's a totally different experience fron Skyrim. Far more dramatic and character driven in a cinematic way.Now Playing on PS5:

I think the Baron questline is one of the best of its kind, period, in gaming. Fantastic stuff"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Don't worry it really isn't that bad. I just finished my third playthrough and both of the DLC story lines. It only took 309 hours. So I wouldn't be that concerned that this game will own your life and cause you to be very tired some mornings, really it will be ok.
SpoilerYes I have already started my fourth playthrough, going with Death March for the first time. This could very well be my very first platinum. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012
