    Re: The Witcher 3

Just finished up the main story and nearly all of the side quests and Witcher contracts.

Unfortunately, I wound up with a couple of glitched side quests and even a glitched main quest, but the game let me plow past it... Thank God, lol..

I was pleasantly surprised by the story beats along the way in this game. So many great side quests, obviously, and I really enjoyed the last third or so of the main story.

Started this last Thanksgiving and I don't think I've played another single player game seriously since.. I took a few weeks off on a hand full of occasions, but for the most part this was more or less my daily driver for a year.

The Witcher was just such a dense and satisfying experience start to finish. There have probably been a few game stories I've liked a little better than this, but overall, I think this was my all time favorite gaming experience since Half-Life 2.

So glad I still have Hearts of Stone, which I just started, and Blood and Wine to play through.

really considering downloading this, but RPGs aren't really my thing, but all i hear is how amazing this game is. I finally got a PC that can run games at high-ultra settings and looking for something new. Been watching youtube videos all day

I've seen many people who said they didn't care much for RPG's or fantasy games, but enjoyed The Witcher 3. I think people get surprised by how wonderfully rich the world is, the sheer amount of genuinely good storytelling, and just how character driven it is.

The RPG elements are fairly downplayed compared to a lot of others in the genre. And the world exists more for believable scale than offering you an unguided sandbox to explore. Turn off Points of Interests in the options and play it in a more linear fashion.

          Re: The Witcher 3

For those of you just enjoying this for this first time, I thought I would mention a tip from earlier in the thread.

Pay attention to the people talking around you and explore as much as you can. I have enjoyed several "missions" that were not marked on the map or were just found by listening to a conversation and asking the person what they were talking about.

Another is to take your time. This game and the world around it is amazing. Take the time to enjoy it. My shortest play-thru was over 350 hours and I have enjoyed every minute. So do yourself a favor and let the world play out around you.

Lastly if you are so inclined, read the books that all of this was based on. They are a fun and easy read. They will increase your enjoyment immensely in my opinion. On that note if you have not played the other two I recommend going to YouTube and watching a story video of both of the first games. It will help as well with some back story. Its not needed by any means but it does help.

Enjoy folks, this one is truly one for the ages.

Just did that last night. Pretty amazing. My only complaint is you can't save the game at all during it, so you have to be able to play for about 45 mins straight. No biggie, but something to be aware of.

Ok i decided to join the Witcher team and downloaded it last night (PC).

Just got to the part where i met w/ the Baron to talk about his family after following the Lubberkin around.

What are some must have mods? I'm not looking for cheats, but things to upgrade the experience

              So far i've installed:
              HD Reworked Project
              High Quality Faces
              Jump in shallow water
The mod where you can turn off the HUD and displays
Some eye mods (using Demon one)
Fast Travel anytime (Haven't used it yet)
              Unlimited Stamina for Roach
              9000 lb mod
              Script merger
              Auto Loot
              No fall damage

This is what I've been using on a 3rd playthrough.

Friendly HUD and Immersive Cam are the two best mods. Removing HUD elements to only show when you need them or with a hotkey is amazing. Immersive Cam is entirely configurable. I use it just to change the camera for exploration and the sense of scale you get compared to vanilla is fantastic.

                Other mods I'm using:

Be careful with the fast travel mod, it can break some quests. I don't think Nitpcker's mod works with the HD Reworked Project though. I know the HD Reworked Project is the most popular mod, but I'm personally not a fan of a lot of its textures. I mean their nice and high res, but it's the art style changes I don't like.

I just use mods that would enhance the experience and QOL mods. Very minimal conflicts with these and those are automatically solved with the Script Merger.

                  So random noob question.

Is this a game where after you complete the main story you can go back and explore still and complete quests....or do you need to complete everything before the you finish the main story?

Yep. You can finish everything after the story ends. You're not locked out of anything once you finish.

Didn't always like her, but I felt like her and Geralt fit together best.

I love Triss. She's great and her growth in the game is pretty cool to witness as she helps her peers escape oppression and persecution. I think doing that helped with her confidence, because she's the low-key girl who is nearly oblivious to her strengths while being easily malleable.

But Yennefer is a woman in every sense. She's confident, strong, and doesn't seem to take any ****.

Triss, to me, is somebody you have fun with, but Yennefer is the one you take home and keep for the long haul.
