Finally got to sink a couple hours into the game and absolutely love it, even with the loose controls when running around/ jumping. Still in White Orchard and love how much there is to do.

Dragon Age is more party dialogue driven while The Witcher isn't. So far The Witcher 3 simply don't hold my interest like Dragon Age Inquisition did.

Graphically Dragon Age Inquisition looks better. Dragon Age controls are better too. I find The Witcher 3 controls to be way too loose even with the sensitivity changes.

Both are good games in their own way and any RPG fan should own both.

It seems the passage of time works well too. I am going to keep this vague to avoid spoilers.

I was traveling around and came up to these bandits that were up to no good. I quick save before approaching them. Well I guess it was an unmarked side quest because I get a cut scene. Being a level 3 with low level gear these level 10 bandits destroy me. After maybe about 6 tries I realize I will have to come back.

Now I'm level 7, better gear, better fighter and confident. I make my way back to where they were and... nothing. As I approach I see no bandits. I pass by and notice what I wanted to stop played out without me.

It makes me wonder if I never saw that cut scene in the first place, would I have even known what transpired in this location. I also wonder how many of these events play out without my knowledge.

            What a game.

The passage of time and the weather differences are just outstanding. I never realized how those two things could make a game so much more immersive.

This game gives me a similar feeling as to when I was 17 and I got to Gamestop about 20 minutes before it opened so I could be first in line for the original Knights of the Old Republic. To this day still probably my favorite game ever.

This game has potential to leave an even bigger impact for me. I'm still very early mostly exploring all of Velen, just not starting to get into the Nilfgaardian Connection story quest

How are you guys playing your Geralt?

Combat wise I have focused all my points in my signs. I drop a trap sign that deals damage for about 20 seconds, and switch between shield and fire as I dance around my enemies. Lot of fun so far.

Moral wise I started really straight edge and super noble but now I sometimes will take money or a bribe if I feel it isn't that big of a deal. Mostly good guy but a little ruthless mercenary in me.

Understanding the politics at work has helped me get into the game that much more, there a lot going on for people like me who never played the last game

For PC users, I've been using this SweetFX:

                      <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/prufK9TBfyA" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>

It's not perfect (IMO it's a bit too cool on my screen), but I'm liking it compared to vanilla.

I prefer party based games to solo player protagonist games so for me the best pbg will always be more enjoyable than the best spp game, but this game will challenge DAI, a game that I love, love, love in my gaming hierarchy. I agree about the controls, but for me the Witcher is a much better game graphically, and despite the lack of heavy party interaction, the narrative is just as strong in this game. The set pieces in DAI are top shelf, but the side quests in W3 are much, much better, IMO.

I just finished the first boss battle in W3 and it was pissing me off, until I realized that I actually had to pay attention, be patient, and use all the weapons available to me to win.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I enjoy the more personal story of Geralt and others, and the more grounded fantasy compared to the save the world trope BioWare has been running for years.

A very early side-quest involving a damn frying pan is more interesting and has better writing than 90% of side-quests in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

When it comes to blending world-building, characters, quests, choices, and exploration, Inquisition isn't even in the same league.

The Witcher 3 in most ways is the antithesis of what I found to be lacking in Inquisition. Ultimately, I guess the two games had different goals, it's just I prefer those of The Witcher 3 and how CDPR executed on theirs.

I posted these PS4 tips the other day but it bares repeating.

Swiping up or down on touchpad opens map.
Holding it down opens straight to inventory.
