Oh my...upgraded igni and yea....roasted monsters all over the beautiful land.
I hadn't decided quite yet which build to go for,but after upgrading igni,I'm going to go for a signs build....just soooo powerful

When I first started I didn't realize that you had to activate the skill in the slots. So I had wasted a couple of points in the General Passive category. I bought that 1k potion from Keira and started over. Got igni and Aard up to 4/4 on the 1st tier. Its fun knocking bandits off horses and harpies from the sky.

Right now I have 4 active Red skills and 3 Blue skills. With the next slot I open I need to put a couple of points in alchemy to make potions last longer.

I think if you put them in the slots it only affects the Intensity? IIRC, I didn't have the alternate Axii in the slot, but I was still able to use it on enemies.

I've completely upgraded the first Igni skill, along with unlocking the alternate Axii, and have been putting points into the fast combat attack. Geralt slices and melts foes like buttered toast now.

I did the same thing ....not knowing that you actually had to "activate" the skills....I thought the damn things weren't working....I'm such a goober...lmao

Just downloaded a mod for the PC version that let me map quicksave to the Xbox guide button on my controller. That was really the main thing I was missing about using a controller.

I feel very overwhelmed. I am early into the game, but I haven't even looked at crafting etc... I don't even know what the best sword to use right now against monsters or humans.

Once you run into a group of monsters or humans, the game usually pulls the correct sword out for you. Silver sword is for monsters, steel sword is for humans and I believe wildlife (like bears).

You should take some time to try and learn about crafting and alchemy. It overwhelmed me at first, but now I understand most of it.

I'd suggest that when you start getting character points, upgrade your signs (blue slots) first. You'll learn how to use them pretty quickly too

I had no idea that's how it worked. So the slots are just for the added mutagen juice. Thanks for clearing that up.

I'll have to check it out when I get home to be sure, but I thought I was able to do that before I added it to the slot. Searching around the net is leading me to believe I'm misremembering, though. I'm not really sure what Sign Intensity does with the mutagens - I guess makes them stronger somehow.

Yes, it should be in usable at the top.

Edit: Upgrading to the enhanced version replaces the standard version.
