Probably what was throwing me off seeing some of the videos and pics from last year. Couldn't figure out why mine was looking off.

Re: The Witcher 3
For all of you lucky first timers to the Witcher Universe, I would like to point out a couple of things for you in case you don't already know.
The Witcher games are based on a very entertaining series of books written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. There are currently 6 books as well as a series of Graphic Novels. I highly recommend them all.
The first two games do not need to be played to get into the 3rd one as others have stated before. But I would highly recommend at least watching play thru's of them. This world, its lore and its people is very deep and very well developed in the game world by CDPR and it would be a shame to miss it.
Lastly, take you time. Read the information given to you in the game, whether in the form of books, notes or NPC's it all just makes the world come alive. Also as part of the last little bit of guidance, EXPLORE! Some of the best moments that come in this game, including some really fun unexpected quests come from random things just placed in the world. They are not even on the map, they are just tucked away for folks to find. They have no real impact if missed but add so much to the world.
Thanks for the recommendation!!Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I got this while on sale for $20 at Best Buy.
My attention span is short. I've tried playing Skyrim five times and always bail pretty quick. Do I have any chance at liking this, or are those two games nothing alike?Comment

The Witcher 3
You won't make it through this with a short attention span. But it may help to play the game in bursts overtime rather than try to play it all the way through on a daily basis. As much as I LOVE this game, the first time through I had to take breaks due to burnout.Comment

I'm the same way too. Even my Favorite games i have to take a break every now and then. Come to the think about it I'm like that Other hobbies I have, need to tak a break sometimes.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Yep this part of my "problem" when it comes to playing and especially finishing games. I get burned out quickly and it gets placed on the backburner for awhile to where I somewhat forget about the game because of new games that come out.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I did play through Fallout 3 and New Vegas. So my attention might be better considering how great the game is.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Just finished the Hearts of Stone DLC and it was excellent. The story was focused and made me want to keep playing just to see what happened next. I am going to take a small break before delving into Blood and Wine just so I don't try and rush through it.
I did have about 10 different mods installed that really made the game better, friendly HUD, Alt horse controls(a must), Immersive Cam, just to name a few.
I also used the new Steam API so that I could remap the Xbox One Controller so that I could instantly cast spells just by pressing the D-Pad. That small change makes a huge difference in combat and not sure why they didn't design the game that way or at least give the option.XBL: Countach

Re: The Witcher 3
I haven't beat the game yet, but I was curious about New Game Plus. How does that work? Is it just replaying through the story, again? Will I get to discover the towns and all of the locations, again, or will they already be marked on my map? What about my weapons and armor? I still have to do the expansion packs, too, but I was just wondering.#LFC

I am getting ready to start my 4th and 5th play thrus in a few days and this could be my very first Platinum. I am going to Blood and Broken Bones this time with a New Game Plus into Death March. That should keep my Witcher cravings sated for a bit.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: The Witcher 3
From my understanding, I have beaten it 3 times but have never done New Game +, you basically start over like it is a brand new game. But you are at your current level and with all of your gear that you ended the last game with.
