This also makes me leary. I honestly don't understand how you're supposed to be a sniper, you have to be close to hit guys, then you get found out so easily. Maybe I have the concept of a sniper wrong, but stealth and cover and blending is like the crux of their job.
I think its the way it should be if I'm understanding correct.
If you're out in the open and shoot you're not doing it right (not you but commenting on what you quoted)

You should always have a "escape" route planned when you shoot. You never stay in the same place after the shot. That's the main issue I had with SE V2 was some of the missions were way to cluttered and you were vastly limited in land/area to re-route into.
If SE 3 is more open world and less limitations to where you can go that will be great.

And you don't need to be close to snipe guys. Can't remember off hand how far my longest shot was in SE1 or 2 but it was a looong way.
Yeah I had a lot of closer shots also but you really want (if mission and land permits it) to be as far away with a clean look as you can.

I could be wrong but I think it was this game that had an article more in depth about the AI knowing where you are in releation to shots fired and who you kill.. etc..

I bought SE2 on PC (Played the 360 and PS3 version before) mainly for co-op with Candy which 1: Has been a blast and 2: We need to get back into it Candy!

I've never played Cod so I don't know what non-system is in that game but SE3 does have a system, you can see it in the last video I posted. When behind cover there's an "emerge" button. There's just no button prompt that snaps you behind cover.

On your other concern, I like it that way. If I drop a guy out in the open without cover noise and with other guards on over watch a sure as hell expect them to come looking to flush me out.

Co-op is definitely where it's at. A friend and I played through SEv2 that way and it was much more fun then solo.

Yeah i've been playing it since its free on PC, or was a couple of weeks ago, and they almost know where you are immediately.

Kind of hard to know in a panic and somebody standing 3 feet from you dropping out of nowhere. I dont think it was a complete waste, but I do think they had alot of work to do.

Don't know why but I didnt like the mechanics either. Sprinting with LB or something like that was weird.

I hope this version is way better...I enjoyed the sniping on V2, but there was no way to avoid up close gunplay when they bum rush you. I get that you have to be smart, but it was so linear that it was tough.

I'll probably get this on sale later, but seems better so far in videos.

I will only buy this game if the enemies aren't psychic. Killed the last one for me.

                    Re: Sniper Elite V3

We’re really excited to get Sniper Elite 3 out there on PS4 and PS3 next week. It’s the sniper game the fans really wanted, and we’re glad that we have been able to deliver. Right after Sniper Elite V2 we asked the fans what they thought about that game - the good bits, the bad [...]

I liked this part in particular.

We know a lot of fans were frustrated that stealth was really hard in Sniper Elite V2 – it was very easy to get detected, and very hard to know if the enemy could see you or not. That’s all changed in Sniper Elite 3

                      Eurogamer. 7/10

Rebellion's sadistic cranial trauma simulator returns in an improved - but still flawed - form.

"The package as a whole is still very much a rough diamond, but it's a definite improvement over its predecessor. The gruesome kill-cam remains a deliciously wrong thrill and the unifying force that holds the game together, but it's doubtful that it would be enough to paper over the cracks in a fourth game without a major overhaul of the AI and physics code. Even with its flaws, though, Sniper Elite 3 is a solidly enjoyable mid-tier action game. It may not hit the bullseye, but it's getting closer with every shot."

I might grab it on sale...and I do agree that games with Co-op are more interesting to me.

I'll wait to see what it looks like when some of you guys are playing. There are certain things about it I like... but hopefully they've opened it up a ton more.
