sadly one of my friends lost his character due to this. lvl 56 dz and he has to start over now.

And now I"m afraid to play! Should I wait until this is fixed to log back in??

It's safe to play as they've fixed the problem. Characters are not permanently gone. Statement from Ubi

The issue was caused by a malfunctioning server that couldn’t synchronize character data correctly and corrupted them instead. The game client was unable to read this corrupted data, and simply assumed that the character didn’t exist. Once this has been identified, we were able to restore the server to its normal functions, thus ensuring that the issue will no longer occur for other players.

For those who experienced the issue: your character is not gone. We are currently working on a fix that should make it available shortly. Implementing this fix will require a server downtime, and we will let you know when we are ready to perform it.
Please note however that in order to make your character available, we will need to restore the latest uncorrupted save of your entire account, which happened during the server maintenance of April 12. In other words, your character will be back just as you left it on April 12 at 9am CEST | 3am EDT | 12am PDT. You will lose any progress made on this character or any other one from the same account between April 12 and the next maintenance.

Its supposed to be beautiful here this weekend, 70 and sunny and breezy. And the wife works too all weekend.

Which means its perfect for drawing all of the blinds, cranking up the stereo and firing up the Division with a few, cold adult beverages in hand. Then playing for about 12 hours straight until I run out of energy drinks, LOL

He brings up some good concerns.

His take on the Dark Zone is something myself and others have discussed on here. I also agree that the supply drops giving purps needs to stop, like right now, just stop.

Ended the night on a high note. Spent the night rolling with Shando and a random that we met in the DZ. Got a bunch of high end loot, fought some enemies, went rogue, hunted some rogues, a full well rounded nght!

After we all called it a night, I headed down to DZ01 just long enough to hit level 40. Managed to get to 40 as I was hitting the Blockade. Then got the drop I've been looking for. A high end First Wave M1A from the Blockade boss. I freaked. I instantly went into most wanted hunted mode, checking every damn corner and constantly looking behind me until I could work my way to the extraction. Luckily someone had already called in a chopper so it was waiting for me when I got there. Just to make damn certain I got it out, popped Survival Link right as I ran to the rope.

And it was all essentially for nothing. The gun is barely marginally better than the Superior First Wave M1A I was using. 100 less damage, only 11% more headshot damage and only 2,000 more DPS. It has a gear score of 163, so definitely not a super good version of the M1A. If I find one with over 30k damage, then I'll be happy.

But, at least now I'm 100% high end. All gear and all weapons are high end now, so all set three. Got my gear score up to 174. Then, to test out the new M1A, I speed ran through Madison Field Hospital solo. That also gave me my 10th completed mission and in the process I'm already done with the weekly assignment.

I'm guessing your superior was item level 31 while your high end was 30.

Also read the best way to drop your gear score is equipping a low level pistol to drop your score down as most people don't use that. I should be on tonight and should be able to check my score. Didn't do it last night as I was terribly sick and had also read about the deleted characters so didn't want to risk it.

I agree with most of what he said. I am very concerned about what this update will do for the longevity of the game once it dawns on people they just changed purple to gold and not 30 to 31s.

What he doesn't mention is that the garbage leveling control imposed by gold division tech is more imposing now because of changes to the DZ. So in my opinion one of the biggest obstacles to properly progressing end game (crafting with div tech) has secretly become much worse.

Supply drops are a joke. After racing and fighting for two or three and seeing the purple I just use it now as an opportunity to clear the bosses for PC while people run in circles chasing bad gear. Don't even bother with the chest anymore.

All I ask for its the ability to run ALL the missions on Challenge Mode and I'd be a happy camper.

Running Challenge Mode missions with friends is one of the funnest things to do in this game.
