I could play the story and side missions solo and then group up with PS4 guys to go into the DZ, correct?

If so, I gotta have this game... Looks amazing would be hard to pass on.

DZ solo is rough, and crap shoot, unless you find other solos to group up with in time of need. Even outside of DZ on hard level you need to group up for main missions. IMO

Its not that bad solo in DZ however when doing the hard missions you need to group unless your so many levels above everything else.

Absolutely. I did everything solo in the beta, including some Dark Zone, which was still fun solo. And then I grouped up with Bolt, Hoos, and Hosh later on in the Dark Zone. For the story missions, you can enter matchmaking so that it puts you in a group with 3 other randoms.

For the Dark Zone, I think going in solo or with a group just creates two completely different experiences.

Solo: I had to be very cautious about exposing myself to other groups of people because they could easily team up on me and take my loot, so it consisted of a lot of sneaking around and letting other people call in extractions and then I'd sneak over and load up my loot to be extracted at the last second. Going solo against the "Cleaners" (AI groups) also forced me to be more tactical about picking them off one by one and in some situations, forced me to enter safe houses just to get away from them.

In a group: In a group with 3 other strong players, you can basically run ****. It's like Gordon Bombay's speech in the first Mighty Ducks movie... other players won't mess with you because they know if they mess with one duck, they'll have to deal with the whole flock.

Also worth to mention if you want to group running around the city or darkzone theres a matchmaking area in Camp Hudson.

So thats another thing the division is allowing that Destiny did not.

Speaking of the last point. I think this creates very unique situations in DZ. Last night their was about 6 of us random friendlies at a extraction, no one killing each other, then about 4 guys grouped up and rogue on a roof top opposite of extraction on roof. Some exciting gun play ensued even to the point where some of us suppressed the roof, while the others went up rope and rush attacked. None of us were grouped up that I am aware, was really cool. And we extracted and healed each other in process. Same rogues kept killing me when I was just solo.

Also, for open beta, will we be using same game download? I am assuming. They will just update it server side.

Just one of the dynamics of the DZ that I like.

Also, guys that are your friends one minute.... can be your enemy the very next minute. Got to watch your back at all times. lol
Cool that was awesome. I was getting killed solo by them, very frustrating. It was enough was enough by everyone. Lmao. I got you on live?

I'll add that it's hilarious when someone enters "Manhunt" status and you see 10+ players all start chasing after him. In the beta, these guys were able to just run to the "off-limits" zone, and it would transport them somewhere else, but when the full map is unlocked, these guys will be in for a world of hurt.

Candy set up a ps4 community and between that and chat we should be able to set up groups and keep everyone in the rotation during retail.

I take back what I said about not playing the open beta, I miss the game already.

If you look at the beta, the best way to get gear is to just replay the one story mission on hard for the blue drop. I'm guessing thats the deal in the main game too, just replay story missions for blue drops until you're bored, then game over.

I think a Diablo 3 type of end game is what games like The Division and Destiny should be shooting for, but I'll be pretty shocked if The Division delivers something even close to that. I think its going to be a lot like Destiny in the sense that you chase gear, but eventually top out and its nearly impossible to find a meaningful upgrade.

If that process of almost maxing out, or completely maxing out takes months and isn't extremely repetitive and boring they might have something. I'm concerned its going to be less than two weeks for a lot of people.
I understand, bro. Bottom line is nobody knows for sure. We will see.

I'll be in for the open beta on PS4 and it will determine whether or not I buy this game.

I really will need to see how good the loot is. Coming from Diablo 3, where there is awesome loot that sometimes changes your entire character build or how they play, I have high expectations. If it is just stuff basic weapon or armor upgrades (3% damage reduction, recoil reduction, etc.), I'll get bored and probably pass.

Hopefully the open beta will have armor mods available this time on top of the excellent weapon mod system we experienced in the closed beta. Modding weapons is almost as fun as finding new weapons, for me, can change your gear dramatically
