For an RPG noob like myself, anybody mind giving me a break down of what terms like DPS and others mean? I'm guessing it has something to do with Damage Per Shot?

I absolutely recommend selling about 75 percent of ur gear And deconstructing the rest. Until you get to mid 20s and higher. Don't forget to check ur base every hour for the crafting supply chests u unlock as u upgrade the base. It adds up.
The recalibration station has already bankrupt me many times and will continue to do so. Love that that thing, I've rerolled an attribute on every piece of gear I equip."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

for sell vs. breaking down.
I break down white and greens automatically now that I'm Level 30.
I've started breaking down blues as well. any extra purples i get i sell as those sell for good price.Comment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
What kind of builds are people here going with? The game definitely pushes players to specialize as opposed to being a generalist, which I almost always have a problem with because I want to be good at everything. Interested to know what other people have been choosing and their results with it so far.
I'm also focusing on healing abilities to help keep my teammates alive in battles.
I also love the support station! That thing is a permanent fixture in my ability slots.
So after a good 5 hours of play time now I am going to echo what some others have said here and say I think this game has serious legs for longevity. Why?
Because it reminds me of Diablo...
As most of you guys know I'm a Diablo junkie, probably played it for 1,000 hours (I do not exaggerate either, I'm serious) on the PS4 and this game is the exact same format with the various guns, outfits, add-ons for guns, skills, character builds etc.
I also like the fact you can just adventure on your own if you feel like but the game is a little better (sometimes a LOT better) if you play with others so it gives you that option.
I know we are in the "honeymoon period" but there seems to be so much stuff to do that, much like Diablo, this game looks to have a real long term place in my games library.
Glad I got the digital version!
There are so many weapons, gear, mods, that I'm constantly chasing that higher level weapon or better gear every second that I'm online and playing.
Plus, you can run multiple characters at the same time. Once I get further along with my current character, I may start up a second one and go with an all out firepower character.Comment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
DPS doesn't account for misses due to recoil, and if you can only shoot the first three or so shots of an AR accurately, the gun will seem like it's underperforming its stats. This isn't as much of an issue with marksman rifles, as they deal all of their damage in one shot but that one shot is all you're getting in a second.Comment

And what are the craft chests every hour you speak of?

To be honest, once I fall in love with one gun, it always seems I come across another that I love even more - not a bad problem to have I guess.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
Damage per second. and for the most part it's a good measure of just how much hurt you can put on. It takes raw damage and the weapon's RPM (I'm assuming rounds per minute) into account. There are other things you need to take into account though, such as whether you're actually hitting with those shots - the DPS calculation fails hard when you miss, of course.

I also roll with the SCAR-H as my secondary.#RespectTheCultureComment
