After bout an hour with the game I'm enjoying it. I'll start with the obvious, its the best graphics hands down I've seen from a console game. Ryse has been beaten graphically. The atmosphere is incredible. They wanted this to feel like a movie well they pulled it off and I don't mean that in a bad way. The game should be played on hard with aim assist turned off. Even at that level its still fairly easy but I can tell anything lower and I would breeze through this. The first 15 minutes of the game is slow but it picked up after that. The most disappointing thing for me was the lycan battle. They could have done way better there. Controls are tight, gun play is good although I agree the guns feel the same. Haven't seen a single glitch. As far as QTEs go I'm only an hour in, but they were heavy in the first 15 minutes, after that I haven't dealt with many at all. I won't be touching anything else until I finish this game.

Re: The Order: 1886
Actually I think if this game was a little closer to Assassins Creed/Batman in their approach to the environment it could easily be the difference between the current reviews and a GOTY candidate. Setting traps and driving baddies toward them, approaching events with different tactics and angles, etc. would add replayability and more dynamic gameplay. Instead its a very rigid corridor shooter with things like rope lines and conveniently placed NPCs to make sure the only direction you can go is to the next QTE. Very little room there and results in more of a love/hate from reviewers and fans alike.
This studio has GOTY qualities. You may need to have 2 directors and producers (Cinema/Gaming) to work together in tandem in completing the ultimate experience. We're not going to the movie theaters like we use to. Cinema/Gameplay is in the future. This game has hiccups, but it's closer than anyone else. A few pages back I read somewhere does this game offer you anything new from any previous games? The answer is yes. In all my gaming experiences before, I've never before experienced the graphics in cinema transitioning into gameplay in a seamless way. It actually has you dreaming of the possibilities. It's not 100% perfect. A couple of times I did notice a dip in the frame-rate but it was like 2 in 4 hours of gameplay which is remarkable.
What can I say. I'm a nerd. It's $1.99 in the store - Figured I keep it during gameplay and prior to release 2.

Re: The Order: 1886
Just finished the game. Wow. I'm definitely doing another play through, maybe more than one more time. The ending was fantastic. The music, camera changes, everything. At least a 9/10 in my book. I agree with what someone said, this game has the potential foundation for a game of the year. I love that the story had no fluff. It was all relevant and nothing useless was in it. I never felt bored. I don't know how you can review it as boring.Comment

Re: The Order: 1886
I forgot about that, I'm surprised no one had brought it up yet. "I would, but the way my Internet set up..."
LOL no, I'd be down whenever I get back on. I'll hit you up, and we can see how it goes.

Just picked up my copy.
Ugh. Even GameStop employees are perpetuating the myth on "only five and a half hours" of gameplay.Comment

Re: The Order: 1886
I played about 3 hours this morning and quit at the beginning of Brothers in Arms. I'm sitting at a little over 6.5 hours so far. The length won't really be a concern for me because the whole of the game thus far has been very enjoyable for me.

SpoilerIt doesn't actually tell a complete story from beginning to end. There's no resolution to the Isi character, no resolution to what was happening with Hastings, no resolution to the totally-out-of-left-field vampire stuff, no indication as to whether or not the chancellor knew what Hastings was doing, nothing. Heck, there was no reason for Galahad to kill Lucen and do what the chancellor told him to do, either. There's a whole other act missing to the story.Comment
