PS2 vs. XBOX
so my ps2 just recently went down the crapper and i am looking to purchase a new system. on the one hand i usually only play sports games, so the XBOX would be the logical choice. but with gta and gt coming out this year it makes my choice very hard. to anyone who knows is there a significant graphical difference between the two, xbox and ps2. i have a 20 inch tv so it isn't very big.
thanks.Tags: None -

The only one's that really know at this point are the editor's who've played the Beta. Head up the Beta Impressions thread and you'll find your answers to your questions. -

Re: PS2 vs. XBOX
Xbox is a more powerfull system and will in general produce better graphics. This does not mean it will always be significant though becaus a lot depends on the developer. Almost always though it will, if nothing else, be sharper and have a more stable frame rate.
If you mostly play EA games then the graphics on PS2 and Xbox are very similar. EA usually puts minimal additional effort into their Xbox builds even though the system could handle much beefier graphic engines - EA doens't see it as a profitable expense of time.
If you play online games then Live and XSN is really fanstastic for sports games by MS. However, XSN is exclusive to MS games and being on a closed Live network means you won't get league support for your other titles (Sega) that may support it on the PS2.
Xbox has some incredable Live games though and some games that simply have incredable graphics. GTA3 DB looks light years better on the Xbox than on the PS2, and although Sony has a time exclusive on the next GTA SA expansion (which the release date is far from set in stone), I am sure it will make its way to the Xbox in time. Also, don't discount some of the Xbox exclusives that are just now coming into their own and showing the power the Xbox.
If I was you Id' give the Xbox a try. What do you have to loose ? You have already owned a PS2 and that means you will find a lot of stuff you never got a chance at play on the Xbox.Comment

Re: PS2 vs. XBOX
Ps2 because they are a quite bit cheaper, plus they are always getting upgraded so like the fan is a lot quieter. Also besides what are you then going to do with all those ps2 games you already have. Plus than you can play those games on ps3.Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.Comment
