Had my 1st torpedoed ship today! I was so excited I kicked the coffee table when the ship exploded!

That plume of smoke on the right side of the pic at sea is coming from a destroyer that I had bombed earlier with my teammates. Those familiar with the HBO film "The Pacific", may recognize the island, Peleliu. What a great game!

Sorry for the constant gag but now I want to throw out some assessments of the teams we're playing with. Especially those who have been playing regularly and newbies.

There once was an expression made here about "with patience, good things will come". Never did it ring so true when I finally was able to move the Brits through the early hump in Rank 1. Now, they're my favorite. Not my most potent, but generally a difference maker in the combats I've been placed in. The Brits usually give me full survivability and win streaks. Actually all of my different teams have given me unusual streaks at time.

The Blenheim Mk lV was my Rank 1 MVP (Most Valuable Plane). Not only did it give me base/ground units destruction points, but my gunner was the Man who has given me many kills! As you see in its Royal Glory, she still around my British fleet.

The Beaufighter Mk Vic just recently gave me a torpedo hit. It's also an imposing figure for those planes that come right at you. Usually her cannons will destroy you in advance. It's my last option unless I'm at sea, then she's my first.

The Hurricane was a surprise to me. Especially as a fighter. I take it over the Americans P-400. Now with the Hurricane ll, I'm excited to see more of what she can do.

Wanted to have a Spit and now I have 2 of them. The Mk l and the Mk lla. I believe they are <b>"raptors in the sky".</b> Everything is true about what they say of them. So for you rookie pilots out there, beware.

Wait til you get the IIb with the cannons. There is simply no going back. I have more kills with that plane in less than half the missions than my next best plane. It's unreal.

So you're saying I need to focus on the Brit planes and scrap my plan of going through the German planes first? lol

Nah, it was a conversation that I had with Quint about the Brits. I'm actually going to sum up the rest of them too. LOL....I'm a nerd. My suggestion is to go through them all. That's what I'm doing. Also, like to hear your thoughts on your team.

LOL. I already got it in research. Just bought the Wellington (man, this is a going to be an adjustable period) and retired the Blenheim.

              .

Well I started with the US, but have recently went with the German planes because I like the bombers you get earlier with the Germans. Still trying to figure out which one I prefer and step deeper into the fighters for Germany.

When I sit down and write up on paper the best 5 Man squad on my field, I can't ever get past how good this Soviet team can be. To me, the AR2 Bomber, the MiG, the LaGG, the Yak, and the newly acquired IL 2 is the Rank 2's most imposing team. I have had more extra-ordinary play from this team, such as highest number of kills than any other team. You could say its Planes on Steroids.

The AR2 bomber with it's 3 5oo kg bombs is basically a base buster. You can garnish up to 900 points with a solid hit.

The LaGG-3-35 is a special plane which I'm starting to learn more about, especially now with rocket kills. I've also killed the highest number of planes with the LaGG-3-35 with (4).

The MiG-3-15 is a fast killing machine that you can liken to a sports car. Great for outmaneuvering your enemy too. She once lasted a 15 min fight. Super long battle with only her out there the whole duration matching the LaGG's 4 kills.

The Yak has a long high standard history and the IL 2 with its deadly cannons, was just recently acquired.

Like I was saying, you may experience some amazing moments with this team. I have to set a new research unit and I'm having a hard time figuring out which new set I should upgrade too.

I love my Wellington. It does major damage and takes out bases quickly. Points add up fast when you take out bases.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the countries. All have strong suits. I will say that the side I see the least of is Japan. I see Japanese planes on occasion, but not nearly the frequency of other countries.

There are certain planes I fear on sight. The P-400 and/or P-63 is one of them, along with the Spitfires, FW-190s and Yaks. I will only hit-and-run with these planes and won't tangle with them for any length of time. And I won't engage level 2 or higher Japanese fighters in a dogfight, or even the Hiyabusa. Know your strengths and your limitations, both of your plane and as a pilot.

A really good video made by Enyrian that shows the beauty of this game...Oh, and they're lots of kills too.

Got my Spitfire Mk Vb today! Didn't have time to take it out though. Benched my Spit Mk I, which has been very good to me. Researching the 2nd level Wellington now. Still doing huge damage with the first and almost have all the research for it complete.

I have noticed over the last few days that I have not been getting double bonus points for the first successful mission for each country. This is still supposed to be happening daily and once you win a mission the 2X multiplier for the country disappears. However you are NOT awarded 2X points. Makes researching take much longer.

I'm having an adjustable period with the Wellington with direct strikes. How high in altitude are you before you let go of all your bombs?

I only attack bases with my Wellington so I can be at very high altitudes and hit every time. Trying to hit moving targets is folly, IMO, unless you are flying dangerously low. Stay high, take out bases, rack up points and (usually) avoid fighters. Mobile targets are for the smaller bombers, IMO.

Yes, enemy bases. I'm usually at 9,000 ft but with speed around 250-290 mph and at that altitude I'm missing my marks. I've even used the bombers view too and missed.

Heck I think I am usually at around 14,000 feet and I never miss. I always use the bomber site view. Cut down to around 70% throttle as you close in on the target and bombs away! At 250-290 mph, you are going too fast. I am usually around 180-200 mph.
