So, I've been looking all over for the final species on my starter planet. A few times I've run into flocks of these small bat type creatures, when I scan them they have dots that show up like they are something to identify but it never identifies them so I move along figuring they are not what I'm looking for. I've tried shooting them down but they don't seem to take damage either. Is it possible these are what I'm looking for, if so how can I get them scanned?
I have 2 species left, I can't scan the birds either.

Ive got small birds on my starter planet too. One of my friends had to shoot down the birds in order to scan it. Not sure how she managed it though. I didn't ask details. I've seen the large flying creatures close to ground but not the small things. Maybe at dusk or dawn the birds are closer to the ground?

I am 90% completed on my home planet. So If I am reading it right 100% completion nets a 175 credit bonus?

I may have to warp back 2 systems tonight and scour my home planet and get her done!

How are you able to retrace your warp jumps? I don't have any idea where the systems I originally came from are. I know the names from the pause menu, but there's no indication of the path I took.

If I could I'd go back to some of the planets I blew past in the beginning.

Looking forward to another patch to address crashes and various other things like that.

But my word.....the game is like crack for me with all the exploring we can do on each planet.

And flying in space is pretty bad ***. I am one who is glad they made the flying aspect highly accessable and not some space flight simulator. This is exactly what I thought the game would be.

It is delivering the goods. But I do hope we have more than 2 Alien races which is all I ran into thus far. The more races in the universe we come across, the better. That is a big key for me to keep this a fresh long term game. I want to meet new races and explore their lore and language etc.

I want to be a "Trade Barron" basically with a bad *** "don't **** with me" ship.

                      Re: No Man's Sky

I'm getting frustrated with all the hidden menu stuff.

I'm trying to follow the messages that come up in the bottom right corner, I think those are instructions from the Atlas? Earlier it was instructing me to how to hyper jump, but then wouldn't tell me where to jump. So I went somewhere random. Now it's telling me to analyze and upload creatures which I've done a hundred times. Message won't clear and move on.

I need a captains log or something.

Not using the free form. R1/L1 allow you to switch between map modes.

Use the mode which keeps you on the path to the center. Then back track your steps on the map by selecting the systems you discovered which it tells you on the screen. I am going between the first 3 systems I have discovered right now.

I am going to go back to my fist system and finish off my home planet. I actually finished off the second planet I found (Cygnus X-1) easily.

The third planet is scorched earth but now I have a suit upgrade thaat allows me to tolerate smoldering temps!! Happy about that.

I agree on the races thing. I would assume there would have to be more, especially considering that I have barely scratched the surface as far as systems out there. Also speaking of systems and the number of them, has anyone been in another galaxy other than the Euclid Galaxy?

Glad you like the flying, I actually feel the opposite. I think it's really bad and controlling the ship feels like a chore at almost all times to me. It doesn't need to be flight simulator but something more in depth would be nice considering it's a huge part of the game.

Will exploring get boring at all? I've read some impressions and people are wondering long term play value with the gameplay loops (a lot of just gathering the same materials to survive, etc)....After a while couldn't each planet just be another planet? I know they're unique and all, but if you do exactly the same stuff it's not really unique in what you do.

Watching some videos and seems fun....just not sure if I'm seeing the type of addictive things to do that grab people for hours upon hours like some other games....but I'm not playing so hard for me to tell for sure :-)

Here's where I'm lost. I only have one option on the "path to galactic core" setting - forward. I can see the lines indicating the different routes that can be taken other than that golden line, but it won't let me move along those paths when I try to move the right stick towards them. I have to be in free mode to do that.
