Do we know if PvP is an option in the game? Like at the off chance you find someone else can you attack them and vice versa?

I wonder if with modding and/or maybe a private server or something like that people maybe be able to build their own little MMO type game. Like an EVE Online kind of game

Can't recall the exact wording, but it said if you did come in contact with another player, you could attack them but it wouldn't do anything. Sean Murray compared it to Journey. Not sure if that's still true, in the same interview he said everything that can be shared can be turned on and off and what the final things shared will be is still up in the air.

Yeah from what I read modding is an offline mode thing as not to interfere with the sense of discovery and layout the devs want people to experience. They also said its easier to let people do whatever they want offline then limiting them online.

However not sure if modding is deep (creating universes) or small (editing little things, ships, etc)

Are there humanoid NPC's that you will actually see and interact with when you encounter other civilizations.

There are aliens. I don't believe the team has confirmed actual human NPCs.

If they are there, no one has seen or heard from them.

There are other factions, not sure you can characterize anything you come across as a 'civilization' though.

Yeah there are factions, there are also space stations in every system although they may be automated.

The thing that I will enjoy the most I think about this game, is that there seems to be the lack of feeling like you need to 'rush' or be 'left behind'.

It seems like something you can jump in hardcore or casually and have satisfying results all the same. Not forced to reach the 'end game' so much so to speak. Something you can curate for months if not years to come.

Well said. It will be great to revisit this thread after launch to not worry so much about having the plot line spoiled. It will be amazing to see everyone's first planet, etc.

Totally agree. I am excited to see people's experiences with gifs and pics, etc..

It is going to be so fascinating seeing how everyone's experience will be different, yet familiar, with all the endless possibilities in the game's algorithms.

I tend to agree...my concern is that sometimes with a lack of motivation a game can get boring...if there's not enough to do, or if what there is to do gets boring/repetitive...

We'll see when it drops soon!
