Re: No Man's Sky
The death threat guys are probably gonna be the guys complaining they don't have 50,000 different dialogue options with Aliens and crap like that. As we've said, the hype machine of this game is almost entirely fan/media made."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

No Man's Sky
I honestly think the judgement of this game is gonna be in the eye of the beholder.
It will be polarizing. I think a lot of people who have lofty expectations might be disappointed because it won't be the type of game they've perceived it to be. And I think those with tempered expectations might like it a lot more.
I also think it's gonna be really tough to review. The reviewer might not even see parts of the game that anyone else does. I think this game is truly a new genre.

Re: No Man's Sky
I just don't see it like that. I see a ton of generated planets obviously, some generated animals that probably don't carry a ton of significance and I doubt I'll see anything like a living breathing ecosystem that has an in depth food chain or anything deep to it. We'll see some generic aliens that offer a few dialogue options, but nothing deep either. We'll see a few buildings, but no civilizations that span planets or anything resembling cities. Trading won't be in depth.
I just don't see a very deep game. The size of the universe is exciting and the reason I'm buying it, but I'd be lying if I expected anything revolutionary with this game. Nothing seems deep at all. Basic relics, basic aliens, etc.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: No Man's Sky
I am going into this with no expectations.
If it sucks......I will trade it in ASAP. If it is a fun and immersive open world space exploration game, then I will be able to have a lot of fun with it if it runs smooth and has responsive controls, an easy menu system etc. I can adventure and create my own storylines. Hell I poured 230 hours into Skyrim and that was using my own imagination as well. Getting into character, no fast traveling, and just going out and adventuring beyond the quest-lines available.
This has uber potential to really get geeked up and have a brand new adventure experience in outer space. If this development team pulls it off my hat will be off to them.
If not......it was a $17 mistake ( Paid 47 bucks for it on pre-order, I am sure I can snag $30 on a trade in with-in the first 2-3 weeks of release). Now Playing on PS5:

Re: No Man's Sky
I was fine with this game when I thought it was just flying around in space and discovering/exploring planets. It really wouldn't need more gameplay to make me happy, personally. Unfortunately it seems the developers got in over their heads re: player expectations and started to feel a need to keep adding and adding elements.
Eventually it gets over-ambitious and there's just no way it can live up to certain expectations. I will agree this is in large part due to the gaming audience itself trying to elevate something to their own "perfect dream" scenario when they should let the developers set the expectations and not the other way around.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
I think those of us who have been around the block a few times, will enjoy it for what it is. A space travel simulator of sorts.
My fear is a lot of the younger folk will probably find it boring though. They will just blast animals and shoot at those large ships trying to make it a GTA in space.
I hope that Murray won't cave to the pressure of dumbing it down for the masses.Comment
