Small changes, like killing a few things, digging some holes, will be saved locally and reset once I leave, and not apply to other players' experiences when they visit said planet.

Am I right or wrong in this assessment?

Also, less than a month away!
Depends on what they mean by significant. You could cut the planet in half and they might night save any geometry changes since that's a lot of data to store. Instead they'll just store the seed the planet was generated from, and when I come across the same planet it looks completely different than what you saw, it just has the same type of atmosphere, life, and perhaps the name you gave it if you did the requisite tasks that are required to open up that option.

Significant could just be the status of relics, traders and the faction on that planet, and the rest is thrown away. At least that's what would make the most sense to me based on how they seem to be approaching a lot of things.

I expect the vast majority of players won't ever come across another planet if they're dispersed evenly throughout the universe, less than 1% of the planets in the game will probably ever be visited.

Even if those changes aren't saved, how would we know?

The likelihood that someone you know, let's say on OS, comes across your planet and lands on the same area in which you dug a giant hole is nearly impossible.

The chances are nearly impossible for anyone to land on that planet. So I think they don't necessarily care to save most data outside of locally on your machine because saving that would be pointless. Who else is coming?

As for heavy traffic near the center. The center is just as densely populated with star systems as the outside. Plus the number of people that will have given up in relation to those that started the game will allow the traffic to be nearly just as spread out as before.

Sounds like a good idea for a website, you enter planets you have been to and it creates an entry with stats and a "guestbook" for others who have visited the planet.

Less than a month! Very informative video. Does a great job of explaining multiplayer. I'm a sports card collector and in that hobby one of the ultimate goals is to find a super rare 1/1 autograph or relic card. They are so rare that when you find one its like striking gold. This reminds me of that. Chasing that rarest of events. Sounds amazing.

I'm pretty shocked. They've seemed so set on the release date. All the interviews, no hints of a delay. I believe the release date has been set since October. I wonder what happened?

Sad, because it is the ONLY game I'm looking forward to.

Me too, at least till Fall anyway.

If it's only a few weeks and drops in July I won't be too upset. But if its longer I'll be pretty upset.

I am hearing some people say the delay is so it can launch with PSVR.

If this is true they better still release the regular console edition. No plans on paying $500 for VR this year.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that this game has been in development for so long and we got so close to the release date and BAM a delay. Real kick in the nuts.

This is my very amateur, non-expert, non-insider, just-a-guy-who-has-followed-the-game-a-little opinion

I think it has to do with PSVR as well as them trying to polish the "game" that comes attaches to the exploration engine. I feel that this game is an indie project that has the feel/hype/expectations of an AAA title and "the game" that we've been talking about/wondering about (basically what there is to do besides explore endlessly) is why it's been delayed all this time
