Apparently his stuff just got taken down. Fun while it lasted. Was hoping to see him take off.

Re: No Man's Sky
Those tweets from Sean Murray annoy me. For one, the PC release date confusion has been going on like a week now with nothing but silence. Just tell us what's up instead of these kinds of tweets. Socondly, he's in complete control over this. We've seen games before decide "it's at stores, they can just go ahead and sell them" before, just release the game if it's such a big deal. Third, watching a couple of hours better not spoil the game else this game has issues. Lastly, if he would have been better communicating what the game is like, people wouldn't have been so eager to find out what's what. Basic gameplay concepts are not secrets that need to be uncovered.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
I've been as pessimistic as anyone and I'm certainly much more interested after seeing a few minutes of the longer video. Inching towards a day one purchase, especially since with Steam i can get a fix and refund it if it ends up not working out.

And I mean that in a good way. I trust your judgement on gaming and this makes me feel even better about the game.Comment

I've never been nor ever will be a graphics whore. From every bit of this game I have seen I think the graphics are fine. Not sure what there is to complain about.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
After watching the vids today I think it is clear, to me, that a lot of people are going to want Co-op. I am sure someone is gonna find a way to somehow meet their buddy. It seems like it could be a lot of fun running around with a buddy.
I dunno, maybe it is just me, but for most of the long vid I just felt the game was screaming "great to play with a friend on a mic"In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: No Man's Sky
I am completely of a different mind. I, personally, am looking forward to embracing the loneliness of space. Traveling the Big Black all on my own. Searching for my own answers and goals. While I don't mind "bumping" into someone, maybe hanging out for a bit, I will pretty much make a point of flying solo.
I totally understand that the game is basically designed to be experienced solo, and I will totally enjoy it solo.
I just meant that when I was actually watching the guy play I kept thinking "it would be cool if I had a buddy right there." Like just in that moment, when he was playing. Just random thoughts. I definitely wasn't trying to imply a weakness to the game or anything."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: No Man's Sky
Now I still wish I could build a home base on a planet, and slowly spider my way out/towards the galactic center (planting warp beacons that allow me to jump back home, and back to where I've explored), but perhaps that'll be for the sequel in 6 years.
If there's a PC delay I can see some of my interest dying down, but we'll see. I can see legitimate complaints about the graphics, but for a game that I still think was designed in part for VR they make a lot of sense, and I actually saw better textures than I was expecting in some cases.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
The graphics looked great. I really don't know what anyone is talking about and most of those comments must have been down voted for trolling because I never saw them on reddit.
I'm just as excited as before. I don't think I'm more excited. What I skimmed through is what I expected and wanted out of this game.
So I started off at a level and I'm still right there at that level."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: No Man's Sky
Here is an HD re-upload of the long clip for those that missed it. Probably wont last too long.
Spoiler
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bvMuIv34wOg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The youtube comments I think tell the tale of how this game is going to be received. Very polarizing, just like we thought. Some people dont see a game there at all, just endless resource collection. Some see the most amazing game ever.
Edit
The guy updated his post with some text only thoughts. This post is IMO totally spoiler free, he just offers his insight on the overall experience so far, from him buying the game to the first couple hours playing it.
All in all I think this worked out well. The vid we got is pretty much spoiler free but gives a great taste of what to expect.
Spoiler
Alright fellow travelers, I'm editing this post up.
First, I realize spoilers aren't for everyone. Originally, I hadn't even really planned on posting videos. There was a lot of hype for it, I caved, and I posted some. They have, of course, already been taken down, which was expected. And the response from most was positive, but of course there were also many that weren't exactly pleased.
I'll say this - spoilers will come, one way or another. It may not be from me, but it will be from someone. But I wish no one ill will - I just wanted to share the discovery with you all.
That being said, this is quickly becoming an unpleasant experience for me. People are taking some of the comments I made, especially the long one about my justification for why I bought it in the first place, and quoting it somewhat out of context. I feel like the entire message works as a whole, and not as pieces, and when Polygon posts only a piece of it as "my quote on the subject," it's kind of annoying. Friends and family only see that one part and think that's all there is to it, and there really is more to it. I mean, whatever it's the press, that's what they do, but it's just not something I enjoy seeing.
Second, there are more spoilers than you probably realize with this game. I'm only a couple hours in, barely touched a few planets and already I've had many **** YEAH moments. In the one hand, I'd love to share those with you - but in the other hand, Sean is right... why not just wait and experience them first hand? I dunno.
The first videos I posted were perfect - they spoiled nothing and just showed a taste. I'm sort of glad that was the contribution I was able to give out before they were taken down, and I quickly started hitting new stuff I was reluctant to post. They're down now, but they probably exist out there somewhere, and I'm sure you can find them.
But that's it from me video-wise. HG and Sean don't like it, it's giving me a headache dealing with the fallout, I don't want to be the guy that spoiled all this cool ****, and I'm just leaving it at that! I hope you like those first videos! But for now, I'm going to just play the game, keep to myself and enjoy it.
I will do a text-only post with first impressions once I'm much further in, and yes I will Spoiler tag it and answer ANY questions people want to ask, but there will be no screenshots or videos. Text only from here on out, my friends. It's a compromise respectful to the boundaries in place, and I'm just going to accept it.
Thanks for the early support, and sorry for not showing you more.

Re: No Man's Sky
I can totally tell it's right up your alley and I'm sure many others as well or there wouldn't be this level of hype.
Like you said in groupme, the comments on YouTube show already how polarizing it is going to be.
"Its literally resource collection and crafting from other games.. with no actual game tied to it. Planet to planet collecting resources.. to craft.. to go to.. more planets. Oh boy."
While I don't feel that way about it (I liked Minecraft & 7 Days) I could see a lot of people being negative from the get go. I think it's going to be an awesome investment for many people and I can see the longevity in it for many people for sure.
After watching quite a few videos already I'll honestly say that I'm back on the fence again and my hype levels have subsided. Not sure I'll pay $60 for that experience, I still might buy it day one though. I have it pre-ordered at Gamestop but not paid off and I'm not sure I'm going to pay it off now. I need to sit on it for a while to decide what I'm going to do, keep it and pay it off or move my money towards some other title.
If I decide not to get it I'll look forward to yours and other OSers early impressions. I'll eat up all the early feedback it gets on here from the hardcore early fans to the guys who are not feeling it but bought it anyways.
Hell, like I already said I still may get this day one. So conflicted right now lol.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Instead of game companies scouring the internet to take down early footage of games, Can't Sony and Microsoft have something in the consoles that won't play the game until the launch date?Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

Re: No Man's Sky
The thing that makes me more optimistic is... well.. space is hard. And the difficulty he was having out of the gate made it look challenging and fun, not as much of an arcade 'lol, next planet up, PLanet McPlanetface XIV now claimed' kind of thing I was expecting. If I have to limp along to the next of a handful of worlds I can reach and then make the best of that situation it lends itself to a better experience (IMO) that is more rewarding vs the arcade game I was expecting.
Now I still wish I could build a home base on a planet, and slowly spider my way out/towards the galactic center (planting warp beacons that allow me to jump back home, and back to where I've explored), but perhaps that'll be for the sequel in 6 years.

I am hoping on the PC side we will be able to add/modify additional challenges as well to the surviva aspect and whatnot"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
