And by some degree, a good measure, landing and taking off on planets in a limitless generation engine, with no load screens is sure exciting...

But they have never over-promised us anything. Everything they have said, is in the game. It is the gaming community that even with the internet, and the information at their finger tips, still gets delusions of grandeur.
I get your point and really like the main dev guy, but he was like on a million vids on IGN and things, so they'd been pushing it hard too....IGN doesn't get vids and things if he's not a part of it....

Just comparing to Fallout 4 or something, which just came hard and fast with limited videos and things...This game has been hyped beyond belief, and yet we all still feel we don't know much.

I dunno. Just can be a recipe for disaster, ala Spore or Black and White...people end up expecting something they can't deliver.

The information is out there. It is up to you what you discern from it, or how much you hype yourself or not.

What they are showing in the videos is exactly what they said would be in the game. The leaked streams, exactly what they said.

Disingenuous to campare it to a Molyneux project.

              Re: No Man's Sky

Guys, I know things were crazy for a while, but its time to put it behind us. Mill already asked us to do this.

While things haven't been that bad since the issues, we still need to get everything back on topic.

From here on out all discussion is to be about the game. If we go off the rails again there will be consequences. Don't take this statement personally. Its not directed at anyone. Just an overall warning that I really even hate to make.

I do not want to have to see this thread be closed.

I'm sure it is ITT somewhere, but haven't been able to find it. Are we able to kill the aliens on a planet?

                      Re: No Man's Sky

Obviously can't be 100% dark, never said that. I wasn't trying to point fingers at anybody. Some people can talk in generalities, some can't. I'll see myself out as others have. Was just trying remind and nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand next week but I'm no mod and I'm the minority opinion. My fault for wanting to discuss the game and not specific details.

Carry on. No stone unturned (just like some of us will explore planets) before release date.

                      This thread is so testy.

Depends on who you ask. Some think it looks amazing and are really excited for it, and some think its a glorified tech demo that's looks terrible.

I think its gonna be a very polarizing game.

Depends on your level of hype for it.

If you are like "Hey an indie game I might get 20-30 hours in while relaxing while not really doing anything in game" then it probably lives up to the hype.

If you're like most of the internet in like "Hey this game will be the biggest thing since sliced bread, no AAA game has ever been like this omg I can't wait for this whyisntitaugust10thalreadyiwanttodoeverythinginthe universe." you will be disappointed.

Have any of the streams done any space battle stuff? More than anything that feels completely unnecessary based what I've seen so far. So much warping from planet to the doorstep of a station, anything in between seems like a waste of resources.

There was talk of modding on PC wasn't there, I know we can't even get confirmation of the release date from them, but was there ever anything more than a passing mention of modding?

I've watched as much as I can and I haven't seen any space combat just like I haven't seen guys play around with messing around with the the planet itself (digging holes and stuff).
