    Re: No Man's Sky

BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! So excited now.

Ok, so now that we know its coming in a month, what are your guys' expectations right now?

I am incredibly excited, but also starting to feel some anxiety wondering if it will live up to my expectations.

This is what concerns me regarding expectations people may have going into it.

I urge people to only expect the devs themselves have promised. I feel the hype is all third party created over the last two years.

This is a game from a small studio that I expect is going to have a really cool procedural generation system and exploration technology, that's about all I'm buying for. Anything else is extra gravy for me

            I'm pretty sure that's the developer's twitter, so I think it's reputable

On that note, I have it pre-ordered from Amazon, and for some reason I'm a little worried it won't ship right away for some reason. I'm probably just being paranoid.

And I guess even if it doesn't I can just cancel it and buy the regular version through PSN.

Yes, that is Sean Murray's verified account. He is the founder, designer and creative director for the game. Pretty sure its legit.

I guess the first person in a fully deformable environment is kind of minecraftian? That's kind of the only parallel I can draw.
You can't change or upgrade your ship in anyway? Just straight buy it? Well that sucks. That's what I get for stopping reading things a while ago. I thought there where different ships and you could change and upgrade them to suit your needs.

As I understand it you can upgrade your ship. Like get a better hyperdrive. That's part of what the mining and exploration are for. Unless something changed or I misunderstood.

So much confusion. I still don't fully get what this game is other than fly from planet to planet. Was super excited till more details came out making the water murky. It still looks so cool.

I've posted a whole bunch of articles in here. Probably only need to go 10 pages back for all of them at the most. They give you a better idea of how the game works. Still a bit vague. But a decent amount of stuff.

From what I've seen it reminds me a lot of an old game in the early days of home computers when games were on 5 1/4 " discs called Elite.

You could play as a trader where you searched planets for various goods and kept track of the prices. Buy low on one planet and sell high on another planet. With the cash you upgraded your ship. You could also play as a pirate and attack trade ships. When the trade ship exploded you would see cargo floating in space and you could hijack it. The problem with being a pirate is you then had to dodge police ships.

I'm guessing this game will be much deeper with far better graphics and more stuff to do but at its core it reminds me a lot of Elite.
