      No Man's Sky

Just an FYI for those that wish to pursue this route...

I just used Playstation Chat Support to inquire about getting a refund for this game. If this is the first time you have done this, they will offer you a one-time gesture of a full refund to your PSN wallet.

Between all the issues the game has had, it not being completely as advertised, and me just not enjoying the game, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I now have my $59.99 back, not looking to start a war here...just wanted to offer some information.

I think it is cool that Sony is accommodating those who are not happy with their purchase. Nothing wrong with that at all, imo.

          Re: No Man's Sky

I'm thinking I may end up putting this on a back burner for a little bit. I like taking it slow and spending time on each planet but the more I play I find myself rushing more and not enjoying the exploration. Jumping planets really starts making me feel the repetition. I'm still seeing new animals but everything else starts looking the same. Every upgrade I find I already have and I don't even have room in my suit, ship, or tool to put them anyway. Maybe I've even played to slow and need to try to advance the "story".

I still want to have things to do after a few patches and updates when I think it'll be a better experience. There's some things that are frustrating that make the grind more grindy. My biggest complaint is planets need a guidance system of some kind. However they want to do it. A compass that creates poles on the planet, a working marking or waypoint system that doesn't lose or forget what you've tagged, a map with fog of war revealing where you've traveled. Something, anything that allows better planet navigation.

I intend to get through the Atlas story as quickly as it is convenient, and then take my time, but haven't played for a couple days. It's Madden time, I'll get back to this one day. Hope the base building really happens.

Yeah, enjoying this when I play but madden will definitely start pulling me away and mafia is doing a damn good job of convincing me to pre-order.

But I always saw NMS as a game I pick up and play every now and then.

When you approach a planet are you able to aim to a specific area of a planet such as the north or south pole? I'd even like to be able to aim towards the dark side of the planet, if possible.

It probably doesn't matter much anyways because the entire terrain is pretty much the same all over. And the game would probably setup points of interest in the same vicinity no matter where you land.

Planet orientation isn't identified, wish it was, especially for basic navigation reasons.

I've read about how you receive bonuses when upgrades to your ship/suit/tool are in slots next to each other. The question I have is when I installed upgrades apart, how can you move those, or can you move those at all and are just screwed? I've tried but can't seem to find a way.

If the option to move isn't there you're either hosed or you have to disassemble and reconstruct it in the desired slot.

I was just reading an article about this. It also said if you get the refund you will never be able to play the game again because it will be locked out of your system/user account. Is this the case with you? Curious.

Yes I had mine installed and it's now locked and when I click on it, there is a prompt asking me to purchase the game to continue playing.

There are planets that I've scanned that are just to far away for me to travel so my main mission at the moment is to find a bigger ship. Almost came across 2. One was wrecked on a planet but reminded me of the Apollo capsules which was much smaller than my existing ship. The other, I almost bought at the trade market with a scientist but it only had 2 more slots than mine so I refused and went about my business.

                            I need/want a bigger boat!!!!!!!

Reading some of the notes, didn't the patch create different class ships?

Really 11-12 planets? The most I've see. In a system is 6, and I've been to about 10 now. I wish I could find one with more than 6.

                              Re: No Man's Sky

I have no idea how many planets are even in the system I've started in. I just landed on my third planet last night nearly 7 hours in. I liked my first planet a lot, the second not so much. It also had jumping mushroom animals and some jumping cactus like animals. It was just a weird planet altogether. I didn't like it for some reason. It had water, but was just kind of boring. The third planet I landed on was dry, had no animals, but I did detect intelligent life on it that ended up taking me to a spot that had 2-3 trading posts clumped together with a ton of landing pads so there was a lot of traffic in the skies around that area. Even though it lacks life I still just enjoy flying around that planet because it's pleasing to look at to me. It reminds me a bit of some photos I've seen of Mars at times.
