You're doing exactly what you are supposed to, lol. If you are following the story it'll aid you, if not, it's just a (most of the time) relaxing adventure game.

Just a point of interest or a heads up. No Mans Sky just went on sale on the PSN Store. Every time an update has come out it has gone on sale. Not saying its a certainty it has gone on sale without an update, I think. But in the community this is a sign along with a tweet from Sean Murray.

I am not on Twitter. Can anyone check to see if Sean Murray has Tweeted anything. I heard he has but its not a reliable source.

My multi-tool scanner currently has 3 black market upgrades.

With all of them stacked, I'm sitting at

              Flora- +4803%
              Fauna- +23,349%
              Minerals- +13,535%

I'm making absolue bank just from scanning rocks and animals lol

I've also got all my general exosuit spots upgraded, so I'm using my money to upgrade the technology spots and using drop pods to upgrade the cargo spots.

I recently maxed out my total units (took me 5 1/2+ years). The limit is 4,294,967,295 according to the wiki due to the limits of the hexadecimal system. Wish there was a way to get around that limit so it couldd increase endlessly or at least to 1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion), maybe converting it to scientific notation.

Looks like it's out, though I haven't seen any patch notes yet. There's a 6.9 GB download on Steam.

The game's website still shows the notes for 3.94.

Update will be announced likely in about 37 minutes.

This could be a huge update, or we all got hyped up for just the Switch release, lol.

                        I can't wait either way!

Huh. Don't want to say I expected more...but I expected...more? Oh well. They will continue to do updates, just glad I can pick this up for the Switch now.

Right off the bat, the new inventory screen is gonna take some getting used to.

It also re-arranged all my inventory, and now I don't have proper slots to install my equipment upgrades :/

Full notes (and it's way longer than that in-game blurb):

Interested in the difficulty changes - both with all non-permadeath modes being consolidated into one (and the individual settings that used to define those difficulty levels being more customizable) and new additions/restrictions such as being disallowed to store-buy some items in the survival-equivalent settings. Trade Rocket sounds very convenient too.

Of all the adjustable difficulty settings, only two cannot be changed during a game-in-progress - Permadeath's "Save Deleted" and the "Harsh" inventory stack limit (which I believe is a new setting). The latter is not a component of Survival OR Permadeath and can simply be selected manually from the Custom option when starting a new game.

There are a few other high-difficulty settings that aren't active by default on Survival/Perma, making it possible to tweak the game to a higher difficulty than was previously possible.

                                Scanner Recharge: Challenging
                                Purchases: Expensive
                                Enemy Strength: Challenging
                                The aforementioned Stack Limit: Harsh
Reputation and Standing Gain - Challenging.

Most of these seem aimed at increasing the grind, but I'm curious about how tough the Challenging enemy strength is.

There is a lot to dive into with this update - this is just one part of it.

This is also the first time (to my knowledge) that we've been able to skip the tutorial - meaning that when you do you start with the hermetic seal and antimatter blueprints. That allows you to get off the ground without having to do the first handful of tutorial missions. Getting to your ship for the first time can still be an adventure especially on the harder settings - and since there's no handholding with the tutorial off you'd better know what you're doing unless you want to die in about 2 minutes.

Edit: Okay, the "tutorial" goes a little further than that. Skipping it also enables the Space Anomaly the first time you're able to launch into space, and going there to speak with Nada opens the storyline up into the Artemis missions or the Atlas Path.

Exosuit stack limit on harsh appears to be 300 for raw materials, and significantly less for crafted materials/ other finds - though it seems to vary by item. And high-capacity inventory slots seem to be removed so you can't rely on that in survival anymore.
