Re: Fallout 4
I've got a good supply line setup going now after tweaking it a bit. Basically I have two large hubs and spokes coming off those to the smaller settlements. I will eventually have to set up a third hub in the south, but right now two is fine.
My steps for setting up a new settlement when I get it:
1. Before going to get a new settlement, make sure I have at least one unassigned settler at the hub that will support it.
2. After gaining settlement, fast travel to hub and send unassigned settler to new settlement.
3. Before the settler starts walking away, have them create the supply line. This connects them to my full network and makes all my resources available.
4. Build up defense, and if possible make some food and water.
5. Build recruitment tower.
6. Build enough beds to let it grow for a while without worry.
The only place I've really tried building my own structure is Starlight. That's a work in progress. I usually just utilize whatever's there and add prefab shacks if I need to add beds.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 12-07-2015, 12:29 PM.Comment

Nice. I think I'll go get her tonight. Piper just pretty much chills at my island settlement now. Haven't really used her since I reached max relationship with her.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
That is the supply other settlements eat into. The extra that is put in your workshop. That's what I've gathered from reading stuff anyways but like someone said its not totally clear. That's just where I assume my excess is going.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I will say that this game botched having your settlements raided. So if I'm minding my own business at a settlement and it gets attacked, my legions of turrets mows them down with little effort from me.
But if I'm out and don't come back in time everything gets destroyed? These things don't work if I'm not there?
That is the one thing I don't like about expanding - I will be called into more of these useless "kill these three things attacking your heavily fortified settlement" annoyances.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Anyone else encountering thia glitch in the castle where settlers get unassigned everyone you fast travel there? Not talking about the broadcaster guy which we all are aware I am sure. But it seems that particular settlement has issues as I haven't seen it anywhere else"Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"

Settlement babysitting made me scrap my lvl 39 guy; start a new guy, level him up to 44 now and completely ignore sanctuary and that bastard Preston
Game devs won accept that baby sitting is not fun in gaming. Since San Andreas these guys refuse to stop it. I won't touch settlements ever again with my new character. Ever. It sucks. Cool game otherwise though.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Fun thing you find out from a terminal regarding sports:
SpoilerI read through every terminal I find. I don't remember what building it's in, but there's terminal where you learn the Red Sox still haven't won a World Series since 1918. They are up 3-1 in the World Series on the day the bombs drop. That's ****ing cold, devs.Comment

Without them for me this game is no different than any other game. Go here. Get this. Shoot these things. Repeat.Last edited by ricky24; 12-08-2015, 10:01 AM.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
If we had to do settlements, I would have quit the game 100 hours ago, just not worth the frustration and boredom.
The only settlement I have had attacked was the farm and I ignored it. Not sure what happened to them, I have no reason to go back. Super mutants have showed up at red rocket (where I store my junk, power armors, and companions) a couple times, but they never even make it inside.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
It's good to know you don't have to do them in case I do start a new character. What is the point of collecting everything if you don't do them though? Obviously you still need screws, adhesive etc. not sure what the use for stuff like copper is without settlement building.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I've found if you over-defend your amount of food/water by a margin that attacks rarely happen. I haven't been called to one in quite awhile.
It would be a lot more fun if building from scratch wasn't such a PITA. I really just plop down a couple shacks with beds and some turrets and call it a day for the most part.Comment
