    Re: Fallout 4

There is a rifle you can buy in a Vault that is so freaking good. I level up rifleman and can pretty much kill anything now that comes at me, many times with a one shot Critical.

I was having issues with Mirelurks and legendary mutants, so that really helped me.

Alright, show of hands. Who here, when they go to an area they haven't been yet, nervously spams VATS hoping to catch a mine or enemy before it scares the **** out of them.

Can anyone tell me how I take parts off one gun and then put them on another?

Do they have to be of like guns? Sniper to sniper, shotty to shotty, etc?

Mods are for the exact weapon, like pipe rifle, hunting rifle, combat shotgun, etc. You take mods off by putting another on, even if it is "no mods", so basically either put one on from inventory or build a base mod. You can tell you are putting on a mod rather than making it because it doesn't pop up the build dialog. It doesn't show you, that I know of, that you have a mod available so I just go through the list and see if any go on before I build something.

I save all my mods in my work bench. I even put lesser tier mods on guns before I scrap them to save the better mods.

At the bottom of the screen the action button will change from build to attach if you have that mod in inventory.

My favorite gun is easily a hunting rifle that does 50 points of radiation damage. I upgraded it to a .50 cal receiver so it's damage against humans is like 120. I also have a silencer so with the ninja perk and sandman perk I can get over 400 damage on a unsuspecting raider. I call it " The Popper" because it literally decapitates any human.

I love the silencer. I have it on a shotgun and that thing is a Ghoul killer. I switch mainly between the rifle and the shotgun the entire game.

I only have a suppressor on two guns so far, and neither of them I made myself.

Are you guys higher levels and have the gun nut perk up to level 3 and attaching silencers, or are you finding the weapons that way?

I want to add them to my high powered sniper.

I dismantle weapons and keep the parts. No need to boost gun nut to 3.

I took both gunslinger and rifleman (and sniper) for my combat perks. That will cover everything I want to use. Snipers, shotty, hand guns, and eventually laser rifles and pistols if I want too. I really like how there isn't an energy weapon perk any more so you can make the switch in between ballistics and energy freely.

How do you dismantle, all I see is scrap.

                                Re: Fallout 4

                                Currently I have:

                                Science! maxed
                                Gun nut maxed
                                Armorer maxed
                                Blacksmith maxed
                                Sneak maxed
Lockpicking one from max (that last upgrade is trash)
Hacking one from max (again, trash)
                                Strong back maxed
                                Awareness
                                Ninja maxed
Scrapper one point (this was helpful early, but I wish I hadn't used it)
                                Mysterious Stranger one point
                                Idiot Savant one point

For combat I mostly try to sneak and kill from a good distance with a .50 rifle, currently trying a gauss instead. If I get seen or ambushed, depending on the enemy I use a combat shotgun (mirelurks, deathclaws, tougher ghouls like a bloated glowing) or kellogg's pistol (humans, ghouls, vermin), for super mutants if it's just one I'll use pistol, multiple in close quarters shotgun. For really tough enemies, like mirelurk queen, tougher deathclaws, etc I have a plasma rifle I use. I also carry a rocket launcher, just in case some enemies are bunched or constrained (like coming through a door). I think I may ditch the rocket, maybe the plasma as well for lack of use. Plus I just found the "crash" so I may use that in place of the pistol, and it's pretty close to the plasma's damage output.

So going forward I am thinking gauss, "crash" gun, and maybe change the plasma to a shotgun type now that I think about it. Save some weight.
