Re-entering the workshop using the touch pad only works if you've recently exited the workshop and the icon for it is still up on the screen. It goes away after awhile or if you do something else. I don't know, it disappearing seems to be random. But it for sure isn't an option until after you actually visit the workshop then exit the build screen.

What about holding down select?

No it definitely works every time. I walked into the boundaries many times right away clicked and held the button and up comes the workshop

Edit: I should rephrase that. Not that it works every time but it does work upon just entering a settlement. But yes sometimes I do have to hold down the button multiple times for it to open the interface

I lost dogmeat. Got to a certain point in the story where I couldn't use him and now I can't find him anywhere. He has a full inventory too. Do I just need to keep playing the story to get him back?


Edit: I found him. Guess he just goes back to whatever settlement he wants.

If you can't find him then fast-traveling will load him back with you. Same goes for any companion.

He wasn't my companion at the time. He was forced out of that role by the mission. I just had to check all my settlements and he was at one in the doghouse. It just wasn't the one I usually send him too.

The ending is incredibly disappointing, it may be the direction I went with it, but there was absolutely no closure, it legitimately felt like a movie ending "the world is what I want to make it". I was really disappointed, I know that they couldn't do too much in terms of closure but at least show me how the faction I sided with and those I've scorned influenced the commonwealth. I know that it wasn't the ultimate goal from the get-go, but the game would end at the halfway (3/4th?) point otherwise. I dunno, I loved the game, but the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth. Like you could watch the ending and still not know what preceded at all.

You guys doing all of this real stuff in the game and here I am still working on my settlement and running for my life at the Concord Deathclaw!

3 days I've built up the nerve to fight that damn thing, and 3 days I've lost, miserably. So then I just go back and work on my settlement like the loser I am for the next 2 hours...

I'm not even close. I did a story mission last night for the first time in what felt like a week of play or so.

What's the deal with updates? pc is on their second beta update. Consoles still have got nothing.

"finally"? That's not a lot of time to beat a game like this - I'd expect someone to say something more like "wow that was quick!" how many hours did you put in?

It depends on your definition of "beating" the game. The "main story" quest line in this game is incredibly short compared to what you can do in the game - even for a Bethesda game.

Is the Institute quest line the final part of the main story? Just trying to figure out if I should do BOS and Railroad side quests or hop into it. I feel like it will make me choose between factions.

I'm not entirely sure, because I haven't finished it myself. I just know I'm very close to the end, and there are a lot fewer main quest story lines than I expected. I don't know how anything else interacts after that.
