Re: I just picked up the Halo Special Edition Green Xbox console

This thread has what the drives look like.

    http://forums.operationsports.com/ubbthr...rev=#Post842751

I just traded in my old one to get a new one today, since I don't believe mine was gonna make it all the way until the next consoles are released. I thought about getting the special HALO one, but decided that they were pretty ugly and I'd like to stick with the black. Looks like I got the samsung.

Re: I just picked up the Halo Special Edition Green Xbox console

I fear my PS2 is crappin' out on me, and instead of buying a new one I am thinking of making the switch to XBox.

I posted about this deal last week, and it seems to be a very good deal..

I am just not sure if it's better to take advantage of the deal or just buy the standard X-Box and game of my choice..

Here is a brief comparison (for myself, and others):

            <ul type="square">Green X-Box + Halo Bundle

You get: X-Box System, S Controller, and Halo for $169.99

Plus a new release game (add $49.99), total is $219.98.
<ul type="square">Standard X-Box, and Halo

You get: X-Box System, S Controller, and Halo ($30)

            Total cost: $179.98

Plus a new release game (add 49.99), total is $229.97.
<ul type="square">Standard X-Box + New Release Game (No Halo)

You get: X-Box console, S Controller, New Release game.

            Total cost: $199.98
So it does seem like a good deal, even if you may not be interested in Halo. The difference is about $10, and you are getting Halo and a green colored X-Box. It is my understanding that you are also getting an X-Box that is "newer" in the sense that it won't have a faulty DVD drive. At least, I would hope Microsoft would stop releasing X-Boxes that featured the drive that has proven to be faulty in the past.

Personally, I am not sure I want Halo or not. The Green X-Box and guarantee of a newer X-Box is nice, so that alone may make it worthwhile.

The big issue for me is "changing over." I hold onto my games and have 15+ PS2 games, of which I will get very little for selling or trading in.

I could get my PS2 fixed, and I might, but this is also an opportunity to get an X-Box, and I am starting to lean more and more towards doing so.

I took a break while writing this and read a few reviews on Halo. It actually sounds like a good game, if an older one. And I think I may end up holding off on buying a new game, and renting one instead. Then I can enjoy Halo and experience a few other games before throwing down $50 right away.

I actually went into this whole process thinking that Halo was an average to sub-par game that I would be getting, but not necessarily playing.. But after reading up on it, it got some really good reviews..

That being said, can you tell I've been playing PS2 the last few years?

You should definitely make the move to the Xbox. It's clearly the superior system in every way.

As for your choice of the black or green systems, I would choose the green. If you decide to trade it in when the next generation systems come out, I bet you'll get a higher trade-in value on it because of it being a limited edition.

As for the new release game to get, you can't go wrong with Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow.

                        Thanks for the reply!

I think I will go with the Green X-Box, and I think I will also try and get into Halo. It's not a sports or "dated" game in that it doesn't have rosters, etc. So it's "age" doesn't really matter (if that makes sense).

Is this bundle hard to find in stores at this point? I was thinking of stopping by a local EB tomorrow (there are 2 arond here) and picking it up, but if it's limited edition, do you think I will have to go a long way, or even order online to get my hands on one?

It's nice to hear some positive reinforcement about the X-Box, because I really am not familiar with the console and it's system-specific games, and while I am looking forward to picking one up, I am a little reluctant, just because it is a totally new console, and I've been a PS2'er up until now.

But they say change is good, and I am pretty excited to try out a new system and the games it has to offer.

                        Again, thanks.

It's nice to hear some positive reinforcement about the X-Box, because I really am not familiar with the console and it's system-specific games, and while I am looking forward to picking one up, I am a little reluctant, just because it is a totally new console, and I've been a PS2'er up until now.

be very aware that when you buy a xbox you may lose all your friends

it may happen due to you not leaving your house
or you trying to have constant discussions on how great it is

                              you have been warned
