Maybe I have to progress more through the story, but my options screen looks like this:

LOL like 2% through. I can barely play this game (post-concussive syndrome, hard to look at moving screens like this especially at ~30 FPS). I do what I can, though.

EDIT: Yup, after finishing the first Batmobile mission it has unlocked. Still won't resolve my Remote Play issue though. Any way to contact Rocksteady directly about this?

Yea I think you need to go further. And that sucks about the concussion thing.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, the story has always been gadget driven. To me it feels the same except the gadget of choice so far has been the Batmobile.

I also just looked at the combo list and was kind of awe-struck to see how many there were.

Stick to story missions until you complete the Ace Chemicals section of Arkham Knight, which isn't long after the Falcone Shipping Yard trip. There's a lot of stuff to do in the game's open world, and much of it doesn't become available until after Ace Chemicals.
To say anything more would delve into spoiler territory. Just know that Ace Chemicals is an important moment in the game that not only opens up the world, but also establishes some key story elements that influence every step further you take into Arkham Knight.

So far I'm loving every minute of the game. The use of the batmobile hasn't bugged me. Like what was said, this series has always been gadget driven and this time around we have a gadget that is a tank and it wrecks everything.

I have to stop myself from playing during sessions because if I don't I'll blow right through the game. I like to take my time and take everything in.

So is this an open ended game in the way of GTA? Or more linear like the first one? Never played Arkham City.

It is open ended as far as you get to choose what you want to do. Story missions or side missions or challenges.

Yea open world is the world I'd use to describe this series. It is a still bit linear but the world is open for the most part.

Yeah they're a little wonky and I'm still trying to get used to it. The changing of the controls was a huge help for me. It was getting a little frustrating driving with the default control setup.
