Hopefully Treyarch drops one next year. I heard they're going on a 2-year cycle now instead of just 1 since they have three teams working on the franchise.

Then again, I could totally see Treyarch dropping a Black Ops 3 set 200 years in the future or something, followed by a new modern setting trilogy or something.

    Ugh.

People seem to forget before Modern Warfare all shooters or most of them were nothing but World War 2 or a earlier time period. I know I got tired of them

But I guess the same thing could be said with all the ones set in the future now a days

No more like a 3 year cycle. They brought in SH to make a third team. Treyarch will bring out BO3 next year. Ghost was a complete failure and I hated it. Hoping SH does a good job with this one. I just want to some actual MP before I even think of reserving this game. I just get that feeling this game might end up been a TitanFall wannabee. Titanfall was ok, but I don't want COD to turn into another game that is already out. They just need to stick with their plans and keep COD the way it is and just improve the game. If I want to play Halo, Titanfall, or BF. I would go to one of those games and play it. I want COD to keep itself apart from these other games make a game that will fit their style and not try and copy other games style of game play.

Its a rental for me since I haven't played any kind of COD multiplayer since MW2. Probably wouldn't even give it the time of day if it weren't for Kevin Spacey.

I think its safe to say the COD has jumped the shark, these games are just absurd.

Most people don't forget all of the World War II games. In fact, most of us remember how fun some of the were.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Call of Duty 3, Battlefield 1942 and 1943, World at War, all of the Medal of Honor games on PS2...

I actually would try out another world at war game by treyarch. The first world at war one is my favorite call of duty game in the series. I liked the dark gritty style it had, and how you could play the campaign co op with others. The online had some glaring issues but i liked the overall theme of that game. I think having another throwback shooter would be refreshing. The market is oversaturated with modern and future shooters.

Rumor is 3arc is going to make World at War 2. I am fine with that, because I loved World at War.

I actually love the modern day shooters, problem is that. Let of these game go to much into the over the top action and less emotional investment and those tense tactical moments that operators experience during missions. Sometimes the best way to capture an audience is to master the basics instead of wazzu nonsense. Even though it was cheesy, I actually enjoyed the modern moh that came out awhile back. The story of operators being told was actually good for me. Had it not been for the aforementioned cheesy script from time to time, extremely short campaign, busted multiplayer, and just no real tie in to an overall big picture on the Global War on Terrorism I believe it would have been far better. So many concepts that need to happen that I really wish a dev leader would scour boards and do "community research" and build a modern shooter that would basically capture what we all would want. As it is what I hate more than anything is companies hire these "operators" to come in and basically just mocap and provide game input on probably tactics and movements, however I doubt the game writers actually really involve said operators on the story tellng aspect. If they had we would see:
Tense/Adrenaline moments, sadness/grief when certain loses are experienced, responsibility and the consequences of tactical decisions, actually knowing a mission beforehand and executing that specific mission (also the errors of not executing the mission as designed) instead of waypoint hunting. Having a team with each member performing their specialty. Medics, engineer, weapon, and commo Sgt's. Long list I know but some of these items SOCM seals had in their 1&2 outings.

I am not really interested in a futuristic shooter. I will wait and see what the reviews look like and I may play it. The last Call of Duty I really put a lot of time into was the original Black Ops. My favorite game in the series was World at War so I am more anxious to see what Treyarch brings next year. I would not mind them doing a WWII game as they seem to all but extinct these days.

Medal of Honor: Frontline. Some of the best WW2 level design mixed with amazing music. Each level made you feel what the solider's went through during the war.

The problem is so many people keep buying the game, so why change?

Doubt this one will be too much different since they sell so many copies doing just that.

Medal of Honor had amazing soundtracks. I still listen to the European Assualt Theme from time to time:
