It certainly doesn't help that this game is releasing right after DOOM and right before Overwatch does, both of which have been excellent.

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
Based on what I have read about the campaign it sounds very promising. Open world FPS combat, on the fly gun modding, sneaking into the city to start the revolution. The 4 player co-op Multiplayer sounds great too
As Daniel said, it's sounding like this game maybe needed a little more development time. Most of what I am hearing about it right now basically points to just lots of bugs and terrible performance. I also have read a differing takes on the gunplay/combat. Multiple impressions calling the gun play dull and I read one comment comparing to AI to how mobs just stand around like in the Dark Zone (in Division).
I really want to get this game and Doom. Will definitely own both eventually. With UC4, Battleborn, and Overwatch all in my rotation right now (or soon to be, in OW case) it's hard to decide. I'll probably get this game on PC for the quicker hot fixes and updates since it sounds like it's gonna need them"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
The first game was one of the biggest let downs last gen. I had it as one of my top 10 worst games to be released. There's no chance in hell I would pay full price or even half price for a rushed, sloppy looking sequel. That video above, why does the map move with the gun? 3 mins of it and I had a headache, couldn't imagine playing a full game like that. The movement feels like the player is on roller skates. And that gun play is some of the worst I've ever seen, well, since the first Homefront.Last edited by ExtremeGamer; 05-16-2016, 06:00 AM.Comment

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
When they started marketing this game my first thought was that if they were that committed to making a sequel they must have learned and resolved all their issues from the first one because it was a disaster. I was actually looking forward to it because the premise is great and would make for a fantastic game. But it looks like it's just a cash grab because while it appears they fixed some stuff I would not even remotely consider the way this looks as a lesson learned situation. Me personally I can understand missing the first time around but I would have a hard time putting my name on something like this as a round two effort after what happened the first time.Comment

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
Don't forget, this original series was developed by THQ (Toy Head-Quarters). That is until they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2012. It was then later announced that the game would be developed by Crytek. If you remember back in 2014, Crytek had all kinds of financial problems were workers were walking off the job because they hadn't been paid. So now, I think another studio, Dambuster Studios picked it up and Deep Silver then became the publisher.
So many different hands on this title. Any talks of "feeling unfinished", or "game design issues" shouldn't be that surprising.Comment

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
I can't believe this is coming out already. I loved the original Homefront.
Guess I'll add this to the backlog of games I already have going.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If the SP is really good, I'll grab this in a bit. I actually really liked the MP in the first one. Was sort of like CoD in it's infancy, when it was really fun.
Don't see myself doing coop much. My usual group I game with doesn't really stray far from our GTA pwn nights.Comment

Yea this wasn't really a situation they could win. Seriously look at this dev timeline
-The sequel gets confirmed, studio who developed the original gets closed shortly after
-Crytek gets handed the game, THQ files bankruptcy shortly afterwards, Crytek bought the IP
-Deep in development Crytek starts experiencing financial issues and many people, including the game's creative director, straight up leave
-Crytek then sells the IP to Deep SIlver, who form a new studio to finish the game
Like, how can you win in this situation?
Just to be clear, the game has been developed by Free Radical the entire time, as they're the team that became Dambuster once Deep Silver picked them up (there was no "new studio" formed other than on a technical level). Some people (including high-ranking ones) did leave temporarily, but a number of them went back (it was mostly people on the art side who didn't). Overall, the team lost about 1/3rd of the original group that started the project, but even at the end, a majority were the same.
I still have the game pre-ordered and will pick up tomorrow morning at Best Buy. I figured that for $38, it's worth giving the game a chance. There's also a day one patch that's recommended before starting the single player campaign so while that may sound bad, it seems like the patch will fix some of the issues. Have to wait and see.
Worse case scenario is I trade in the game after a few days. No biggie.
I like the story and premise as well as the on the fly weapon modifications. I like the setting, the looting and scavenging. Just hoping that the gunplay is at least solid enough to enjoy. Review embargo lifts at 3am EST tonight/Tuesday morning before stores open so those who are on the fence can just take a wait and see approach.
I'm hoping for at least a 7-8 game.Comment

Decided to dive in digitally, poked around a few sites and seems like there is some positive notions running about this one, and the day 1 patch is really hefty so I can only hope. Worst comes to worst, I regret it, play through once and delete it. Really hope it's at the very least a decent game.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
A game finally set in Philly! For that reason alone I have my eyes on this one. I played the original Homefront, at least a beta of some sort (I can't really remember) and it wasn't bad, but it couldn't compare to a Battlefield. I don't really have high hopes for quality, though. More likely to be a discount purchase in the future.Comment

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)
Impressions on twitter have been atrocious. The PS4 version is the worst running of the bunch it seems, framerate got worse with the next 1.2 patch and the game chugs along. Haven't seen any impressions of the XB1 version yet, but I would steer clear away from the PS4 version if you have to get this.Comment

IGN gave it a 5...called it uninspired and repetitive
