    Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)

Below is the first hour and thirteen minutes of the game from the PC version. The player is shooting from the hip and there is some kind of aiming reticle but it only appears when you're shooting. I think that it also has to do with the attachment he purchased for the gun but im not 100% sure. Halfway through this video, except for the game pausing, it doesn't seem half bad and the guy playing doesn't seem to have any problem aiming and shooting which was one of my main concerns. I'm actually a little hyped and looking forward to playing the game tomorrow.

Going from Uncharted 4 to this game was probably a poor decision. Yikes.

        Re: Homefront: The Revolution (X1/PS4/PC)

Considering that I just played for 8 hours straight, the game isn't as bad as what critics have made it out to be. Sad part is that there's so many good elements in the game but because of the problems, they're overshadowed.

It's definitely a Far Cry type game which is perfect for me. The frame rate hasn't bothered me at all yet and since im not one for frame rates and resolution, I doubt that it will. The aiming and shooting is off for one main reason - there's no aiming reticle. If there was, I can guarantee that the aiming and shooting wouldn't be bad at all. Game is difficult even on easy which is what im playing on as normal, I was getting my *** kicked even more.

The worse part of the game is the constant pausing/freezing when picking up items/ammo/etc. or when looting enemies or when using the weapons locker. On the bright side, while it also happens during gameplay, it amazingly hasn't killed me yet.

For $38, I can't really complain because there's so much in the game that im actually enjoying. If Dambuster can release a patch that eliminates the pausing/freezing completely and adds in an aiming reticle, the game would be so much better and probably around an 8/10 or so. The negatives are mainly centered around those two aspects and the frame rate for others.

I'm starting over tomorrow after work mainly because I screwed up. I thought that you had to unlock the slots for the attachments but you don't. You simply buy the attachments and if they're compatible with a weapon you "own", you can attach it. I could have been playing with better weapons and attachments. Using the default modified SMG definitely led to me dying several times.

For comparison sake, I can honestly say that im enjoying the game more than I did Knack, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Zombie Army Trilogy, Battlefield: Hardline, The Order: 1886 and Quantum Break. Game doesn't deserve any higher than a 7/10 until the game is patched but it's definitely not worse than a 5/10 in my opinion.

Considering what Assassin's Creed Unity was at launch and that it still averaged a 7/10, I think that the majority of critics were a lot more harsh on the game considering it was after Uncharted 4 and Doom.

Oh well, im enjoying it enough to complete it. Shame that im the only one. LOL.

For me it's not a question of if I'm gonna get, it's just a question of when.

I might have to go PC even though the only people I know who have it are playing it on ps4

Well.....sadly, the game is done for me. Made it up to the third map which looks cool and even though the setup is the same as Far Cry, it's just not doing it for me. I can't get past the non-existent reticle for aiming and adding in all the other problems, enough is enough. Played ten hours or so and just don't have the interest to continue playing.

Shame because with another six months or longer, game would be a lot better than it is now in every way, shape and form.

Does anyone know if there's a mod up yet in the PC version that adds a reticle?

An aiming reticle and the elimination of the constant pausing and freezing alone would improve the game. Such a shame because I was really hoping that this would be a compliment to the Far Cry franchise for me. Oh well.

1.03 is live, from what I've seen, there is slightly better performance but the issues still remain. I enjoy the game but I'm gonna churn through my backlog before continuing any further.

Hello OS, been a while since I've been on here.

I've watched reviews and read numerous impressions and still bought the game today on PS4. I don't have my PS4 currently connected to the Internet atm so I'm playing this game raw straight out of the box. No day one patch or newer helping things out.

That all said, I gotta say so far I'm enjoying it. Going in fully informed that this game has underwhelmed popular expectations has no doubt helped me. It feels last gen for sure in terms of how it looks. Probably similar to Metro Last Light on xbox 360 at its best or maybe a bit less of a looker than that. The world is full of lootable objects very much like the Dead Island series and feels more like that than Far Cry. The gun play is fine so far. I was worried the controls would be flat or floaty but they are pretty good as is the overall way the character moves. Parkour is nicely handled here and it's obvious from the way the environments are set out that mobility through parkour is an expectation the game has upon traversing the world. I really like it. It's not clumsy or frustrating. It's not Dying Light good but it's nice enough all the same.

Enemy ai die pretty quick if you shoot straight. No bullet sponges so far.

The motorbike is made available very early on and the handling is also good enough.

Clearly some graphical polish would have won more people over on that alone as you can really see the potential in the game world would be something unique and nicely detailed with more time spent dressing it up. Yes I've certainly encountered the game stuttering at load points where the action freezes for a second or two but because I knew this would happen I'm ok with it and it hasn't at all hurt the experience in a fatal way.

It really feels like a game made for last gen. Otherwise I'm pleasantly pleased with it and happy to bang on. Will post some more later.

One more thing, this game reminds me a bit of the fuss made over Alpha Protocol when that first came out but that was actually a pretty cool little game once you got over the janky presentation and that it was never going to be the equivalent of Mass Effect as a spy/espionage RPG.

Patch out today on PS4. Sounds like Xbox will be up shortly as well.

Still haven't purchased this, waiting for a sale. Any new impressions or reviews from you guys who kept playing it?
